    of Alamo Bowl fever.

In other sports news, I caught the Red Wings and Rangers at the Garden last night.  Hockey is great live, so much different than on TV.  Lots of fellow Wings supporters in the crowd, the Winged Wheel always travels well.

It's a beautiful thing to watch live, separating out the actual stupid fights. The speed and power and skill of the skating alone, throw the sticks and the puck in and it's truly a thing to behold in person.

So the slogan on the ad?:

    Give Blood.  Play Hockey.

My college team was always ranked in the top 3 and our arena had, maybe, 6 rows of bleacher seats.

A truly visceral game at close quarters.

I know your more immediate concern is with your B-ball Spartans facing the mighty baskeball power that is The Citadel.  Yet another team wearing Carolina blue to beat up on your boys in green.  All kidding aside, I just hope we keep it respectable and appreciate Izzo bringing the team down.

...the '01 Alamo Bowl was a great time.  Entered into the ticket lottery on a lark--ended up with 2 tickets.  Managed to book a cheap flight down and found a wonderful boutique hotel between the Alamo and the arena.  We didn't have to get a car or worry about driving.

Since SA is a lot like a college town in that all the activity is concentrated around the RiverWalk, we got to party with the player's families before the game and the player's after the game.  And party we did!  The game itself was an exciting one that the Hawks squeaked by Texas Tech (featuring a young Wes Welker) 19 to 16.

The weather could have been a bit warmer, but it was a absolute blast anyway!

All I know is that my truck has a plate from a stolen vehicle on it and my old one is apparently still out there being used.

Still haven't figured out how they pieced it all together if that is the case--and how they managed to get my cell phone number.  The only thing I can think of is that they just happened to be checking the parking lot and hit on the license.

    Ellie, about the bling (5.00 / 1) (#11)
by Capt Howdy on Mon Dec 07, 2009 at 02:20:54 PM EST
not much to tell really as far as the bling goes.  lots of silver.  LOTS of silver.  gravy boats, chafing dish, serving trays out the wazoo.  what the hell am I going to do with this stuff?

    honestly, sell it I think.

and on that subject opinions welcome:  ever see the movie "Let Him Have It"?  its about a kid who, as his friend holds a gun on a cop and the cop screams at him to give him the gun, yells "let him have it!"
which the prosecution interpreted as "shoot him" and the defense interpreted as "give him the gun".
this is like that. and as I said, opinions welcome.

my sister says the only instruction she got as far as all the belonging went was [and she said this several times that weekend so I assume it is close to a quote] "what I dont want is for the stuff to end up in a yard sale".
got that?  my sister interpreted that as "dont sell it" and her solution was to give the stuff away to extended family who wanted it.
MY interpretation, which comes from what I would want if it was my stuff, is IF you are going to sell the stuff get what its worth and dont sell it in a freaking yard sale for a dollar.

I think I will sell the silver at some point.  thank god for ebay and craigslist.

the art I love and plan to keep.

Yeh, I really have to keep going more urban Amish, which requires that I sell so many silly silver wedding presents from the previous marriage in a previous century now.  First step is to hereby publicly and freely admit that I haven't polished the d*mn silver since the previous century, either.  And it's not as yet clear whether the son, daughter, daughter-in-law are in the least interested or are just being polite.

My teammates made bigger plays...2 picks by other defenders, and a lot of tough grabs by our receivers w/ no drops...and our QB made the big throws when we needed 'em against a very tough defense.

Now I'm wondering why the plates on your vehicle (the ones that didn't belong to you) weren't taken as evidence of in the stolen vehicle crime.

After the police told you the plates on your truck belonged to a different vehicle, did you check the number against your registration? IOW, are you going to memorize the number on the new plates and keep an eye on them?

    It is curious.

If so, maybe you can just add sport blogs on your blogroll.  Denver has some great sport blogs that are just as insightful as the Denver Post.  A quick search yielded alligatorarmy.com for your beloved Gators.  I don't know if that blog is any good, but I bet you could get a good blogroll going on the teams you care about if you bail on your own sports blog.
