Sheriff Joe's Latest Immigration Stunt

I could leave his name out of the article, but by now you'd all know who he is: AZ most reprehensible Sheriff, Joe Arpaio. Here's what he's up to now:

Months ago, Arpaio and his deputies began scouring Hispanic neighborhoods in the Phoenix area looking for illegal immigrants. So far, hundreds have been hauled away.

Often in these types of operations, "probable cause" gets defined as brown skin and Spanish accents. So, there is no telling how many U.S.-born Hispanics were detained and harassed in the process.

All of which sets the stage for the stunt. The man who put inmates in pink underwear and fed them green bologna has some people in Arizona seeing red after he recently paraded about 200 illegal immigrants in shackles and prison stripes to his notorious "Tent City." Of course, Arpaio did this after alerting the media.

The inmates are to stay in the tents until sentenced and deported. That's right. They haven't been convicted or sentenced yet. But in Maricopa County, the little things need not interfere with punishment.

Is former AZ top cop, now Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano going to rein him in? I wouldn't put money on it.

and they keep him in place. So, the people in AZ who are outraged either aren't enough to vote in a replacement, or they don't live in Maricopa County.

County Attorney Andrew Thomas are pretty much hated by the sane, rational people of Maricpoa County...it is the old people, naturally republicans from Sun City et. al. that keep putting these bozos back in office.  Log onto "Phoenix New Times" to follow the long, sad adventures of "Sheriff Joke".

or someone from his family break the law so he or one of his member of his family would have to be put in his own tent city, and have the media take pictures of him and them in pink garb.

No I really don't, I just want him out and investigated.  Maybe make a documentary that shows his beginning and end with all the injustice he created.

In the mean time there is war fare in the streets of Phoenix and the sheriff's army is noticeably absent/inept.

should be the agency in charge in the city. Maricopa County Sheriff's officers would have no jurisidiction in any areas already covered by the city police departments in the county, right?

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. (D-Mich.), and Immigration Subcommittee Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), Constitution Subcommittee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), and Crime Subcommittee Chairman Bobby Scott (D-Va.) called on Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to investigate allegations of misconduct by Maricopa County (Arizona) Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Considering her close relationship to Arpaio, Napolitano should recuse herself, imo.
