This story has been going the blog rounds. This is the part that stood out for me:

Julie Mason, a White House correspondent and blogger for The Washington Examiner [and a former White House reporter for The Houston Chronicle, said] yes, news consumers care about the minutiae[.] “When I talk to normal people, they want to know what these people are really like away from the camera,” she said.

Let me put it this way Ms. Mason, you are not talking to "normal people" if they care what Bob Bauer and Anita Dunn are "really like." They are not normal people if they KNOW who Bob Bauer and Anita Dunn are. (No offense intended to the "powerful" Bauer couple.)

    They're part of the Beltway elite.  I know one of Bauer's partners and he's....well, suffice it to say that he isn't a nice person or a person of morals or a person who is genuine or really cares about anyone other than himself...

    Strikes me that JFK Jr. was ahead of his time.  Wasn't that the whole idea of his magazine, to be sort of high-brow "People" magazine of the political world?

    I never did get the point of that, but it sounds like it would fit right in now.

    of that type will keep us free.  But, the really important question for D'Amato, boxers or briefs, went unasked, clearly demonstrating that the media needs to probe still deeper to reveal the fiber of public officials.

    somehow, i've managed to survive and sort of thrive, in spite of my obvious ignorance of these "very important people".
