Easter Morning Open Thread

Someone is on TV talking about politics. I regret to say I do not know who. And now for something completely different - the Obamas get a dog:

The first family has settled on a first pet -- a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog that the Obama girls are naming Bo. The selection was one of the White House's most tightly kept secrets. President Barack Obama's daughters, 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha, picked a black and white pup, a White House official speaking on the condition of anonymity told The Associated Press Saturday night. The dog is a gift from Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., who owns several Portuguese water dogs himself.

(Emphasis supplied.) Happy Easter to the observant.

    Good Dog (5.00 / 1) (#3)

I'm glad that Sasha and Malia are getting the dog they wanted.

You know that media like Fox would be complaining if Obama got their dog from a private owner instead of a shelter but you can't complain if a friend, like Senator Kennedy, gives you the dog as a gift.

Brit Hume just criticized the dog. (5.00 / 1) (#6)

Called him "girly".  Shaking head.  It's Easter.  It's a puppy and Hume can't resist taking a snipe.

    Shaking head.  Gah.

a full grown Portugese Water Dog, but trust me they aren't girly when they stand on their hind legs.  I hope when the dog is full grown he gets a chance to jump up on Hume and then he'll find out just how "girly" this dog really is.

In any case, I didn't hear him making snipes about how "girly" the Bush's dogs were.  It was just typical gross stuff from the GOP.  I sure hope they don't go after those little girls next as has been their patterin in the past.

Portuguese Water Dogs jump up more than many dogs do, making it unlikely that such a breed is good for small girls to have.

Sure is a cutie. Hard to get cuter than little Sascha, but she might have some competition in the house!

Something so non-threatening and removed from anything that resembles top secret shouldn't matter who the press got the information from. They categorized the person as "official"! The media knows exactly what office they are to call for news...

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

And deep-fried pizza, chicken cheesesteaks, grilled cheese sandwiches and chocolate pound cake, too.

Business is so good, he's had to order another deep fryer.

Just how many calories are in a deep-fried cheesesteak? "If you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be eating it," said Barker before the show.

    A sensible sentiment.

Sugar and fat are just as likely to do bad things to your blood work and fat levels.  They are both sources of high calories.

The notion that "fat makes you fat," etc has been debunked time and again.

easier to abide by the "if it tastes good, eat it" philosophy, health permitting of course.

I saw a clip of him throwing out the first baseball last week at some game. He appeared very healthy. Has he reached a point where he's able to return to the Senate?

Ted Kennedy did look good!  He has dropped weight and looks much smaller. He was thrilled to have thrown out the first pitch. His grandfather was the first pol ever to do so.  That was Honey Fitz (mother's side).

    He was beaming.
