    But I have been saying that for a month.  He sings reasonably well, but he's not a star.

    Matt saved himself with decent vocals tonight, but I can't believe he chose to sing "Stayin' Alive".

    You can't top a young John Travolta walking down the street with a can of paint.  Especially if you're dressed like Elwood Blues.  Some songs just can't be remade.

    I got going to the Atlanta dog show last month.  It got lost in the shuffle of helping my daughter and bringing the granddaughter home.  I just remembered it in the quiet of the evening with everyone else in bed, found it in the monthly bills.  It was due today and logged in as being paid today at 11:25 pm.  Talk about testing a bit of thin ice :)  I was sort of going really fast, in the careless driving department but the officer said I was a nice sinner so I only had to do a speeding penance.

    are jumping at the predicted rate, from Bloomberg consider the following:

    "Of all borrowers who ended up in default, 34 percent told Fannie and Freddie they were earning less money, about 20 percent cited excessive debt as a reason for missing mortgage payments, and 8.1 percent blamed unemployment, FHFA said."

    So 42% are from underemployment/unemployment.
    Anyone still think we don't need a jobs program?????

    And I haven't seen Matt yet.

    Danny did a pure Karaoke version of "September" but my hat is off to anyone who can sing that song and sell it.  It's probably my favorite song of the Disco era (except for maybe Boogie Oogie Oogie or Disco Inferno).

    Allison was great.  More as the show progresses in my time zone.

    I've been wanting her to go for weeks.

    Loved Adam and Kris.  Danny gets on my nerves.  Hated the arrangement of Allison's song - it just plodded along...boring.  I like Matt, but the straight way he did Stayin' Alive paled in comparison to the more original arrangements.  I didn't even recognize Anoop's song, but I like him.

    I'm guessing it will be Lil and Matt or Lil and Anoop who get the axe tomorrow night.

    Adam's performance was just too overwrought -- true, it did seem like there was real pain in the performance, but on Disco night?  I wanted to dance.

    And Kris's Santana take on a Donna Summer classic, while interesting, was a bit off.

    Would disco on disco night have been so bad?

    limited commercials and they actually tell you how long the break is. Works for me :) "Fringe will be back in 60 seconds."

    My Dot is feeling insecure today, sleeping on half of my lap cuddling 2 stuffed animals. That half of my lower half is officially asleep. Hopefully I can move soon, as she seems to be dropping into a more relaxed sleep . . .

    Adam and Allison rocked. Allison's arrangement might have not been the best, but I liked it better as the song went on. If she revisits it, could be better. Girl's got some chops and gut talent as to who she is at all of 16 years old.

    and Dot did keep me grounded to the couch, which turned out to be a plus. Got to hear right after on the news we had a strip of bad weather passing through. Dot immediately got a walk and we both stayed dry. Unlike if I was walking her at one of her normal times. Like now, rain.  :)

    This year's batch of finalists is good. Anoop, Matthew, and Lila (I think her name is) will be in the bottom three tomorrow and Anoop and Lila will be eliminated. Then everyone will start pulling for Alison (I think her name is), but Lambert will win. Not much to see really in terms of competition, but it's a good group.

    This may be small stuff compared to torture, but can anyone tell me why it's reprehensible for a young woman, Carrie Prejean, to express an opinion that matches both Obama's and Hillary Clinton's (McCain's, as I recall, too), and why she is publicly scapegoated and castigated for doing so?

    Can anyone explain why P. Hilton doesn't take on Obama on this issue?

    Can anyone explain why no women's groups are taking on P. Hilton, after he called Prejean a b1tch on his very public blog?

    Are hate speech and misogynist terms acceptable when directed against a conservative or religious woman -- but off limits for a powerful man?

    (okay, I know your eyes are already rolling), Perez Hilton - one of the judges - asked Miss California a question:

    Hilton asked Miss California's Carrie Prejean her thoughts on legalizing gay marriage during the Miss USA 2009 pageant, which aired live Sunday night on NBC.

    "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage," he said. "Do you think every state should follow suit, why or why not."

    At first, Prejean seemed to trip over her words before giving an answer that drew a mixed reaction from the audience and a look of thinly veiled disgust from Hilton.

    "I think it's great Americans are able to choose one or the other," she said. "We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what in my country, in my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody there, but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be, between a man and a woman."

    Apparently, though, some were offended by Prejean's answer. On television, there could be heard the sound of boos, drowned out somewhat by applause. Hilton has been blogging about what he called the "worst answer in pageant history" since the show ended.

    In a video blog posted Sunday night, he called Prejean "a dumb b----." He later apologized in the blog, offering to take Prejean out for coffee and a "talk."

    It's been quite the kerfuffle...

    First time I've ever heard the term "opposite marriage."

    Not really in the spirit of the competition to ask a politically charged question if there's only going to be one correct answer.

    I mean, if I make a point of going around asking people their opinion on abortion, I'm not going to slug them if they give the answer I disagree with.

    pre-approved by both NBC and the Miss USA Committee. Even tho Perez Hilton is not one of my favorite people in the world, I do believe he had a legitimate question and gave legitimate reasoning for her not winning. And lastly, he was not the only judge.

    To me, it wasnt what her belief system is about gay marriage, it was the hemming and hawing in the answer that did her in. If she had chosen another question out of the bowl and was just as hesitant with her answer, the verdict would have come out the same. IOW, she wasnt very graceful under pressure, something they expect from a Miss USA.

    Perez Hilton calling her sexist names and ripping her apart in the press is because she hemmed and hawed? He has a thing about women who are not verbally graceful, is that it? And he would have ripped apart any woman who hemmed and hawed over the question.

    And all the others who ripped her apart in the press -- including the California contest folks, etc. It was because she was so clumsy in answering a difficult question?

Not that I've ever cared about being delightful and pleasing.  I think I wanted to be found delightful and pleasing when I was a little girl but according to my Aunt G I was usually pronounced precocious :)

    I heard babble from her and he expressed he felt she was the b word, retracted that and then after he heard her next round of babble retracted his retraction/apology. I certainly wouldn't classify their back and forth as hate speech though. She is representing CA, she should at least understand the issues in her state, and if Miss America, the country. He is a media [w-word], imo.  But none of that amounts to hate speech. What it does amount to is publicity, which they both want. And I'm sure they don't mind working it . . . .

    But then again, I'm a jaded [b-word]. :)

    He used the five-letter b word, and the four letter c word. He apologized, and retracted his apology.

    This is unacceptable -- as unacceptable as using the 6-letter n word when you disagree with Obama.

    In fact, her views accorded with the majority of Californians last November. The question was inappropriate.

    But that's all beside the point. Whether she was sensitive to Californians or not, it doesn't justify a misogynist attack not only from him, but from the MSM in general. This is like saying the way she dressed was the reason she was raped.

    What's the matter with the left nowadays? Why is it that, so often, only the right will defend women nowadays:

    and it wasn't a back-and-forth, as the media is trying to make it sound to muddy the waters. He said, she said.

    This is a woman who did not wish to express an opinion on this question, but when asked point-blank in public, decided not to dissemble or lie.

    For that, she has been torn apart by those with the microphone -- Hilton, bloggers, MSM.

    This isn't right. This isn't fair. And I don't care who she is or what her opinion is, I will defend her right to respectfully (as she did) express the feelings of what, in fact, was the opinion of the majority of voters in her state. I will even defend her right to say them disrespectfully, even if no one agrees with her, as long as she does not descend to hate speech.

    And in fact her opinion concurs with that of opinions of Obama, Biden, Hillary, and McCain.

    And no one is taking Obama apart on this.

    he did not use the c word. I obviously haven't been hanging onto the meat of this story, as you seem to be.

    I didn't see what he said was misogynist so much. He was just being an a**, which I believe is his claim to fame (although he may classify it differently ;) )

    In my mind, it's not whether she's sensitive to Californians or not, it's about does she have a freakin' clue as to current events (in her state for starters) and a solid opinion on them. She totally contradicted herself the next day and certainly wasn't too coherent in her original answer. IMNSHO, she gives CA blonds a bad name. {speaking as a native CA blond}. Read her original answer again and tell me what's coherent about it . . . .

    PH asked the question because it was/is a hot button issue in the state she is from and the country. She wants to represent, right?  She sounded a bit checked out on it, and that has NOTHING to do with gender. A freakin' gorgeous brunette CA man could have said the same thing and I would think the same (not including giving blond chicks from CA a bad name that is ;) ) The issue is heating up here in NY, I can certainly answer the question, any where at any time. And I know that it is NOT a free choice in this country. And even if it weren't an issue here, it certainly has been in the news lately.

    Willie Geist (sp) was on.  He said they were given cards with suggested questions on particular topics.  Geist said Hilton was given a question on the subject of 'intolerance.'  Geist, I believe changes his question up somewhat and stated that Hilton did also.

    I thought Hilton did very well with his phrasing a question on a subject of 'intolerance' .... Ms. California clumsily/unfortunately took the opportunity to demonstrate intolerance.  

    I get tired of being embarrassed to be from CA.  :)

    I'm more than happy to task Obama on this, BUT, he was the contestant answering the question the other night. If my Reps in NY go against it here, you can bet they'll get an earful from me. If it comes up in Congress, the same.

    Actually, we need more folks like Miss CA speaking FOR it to let our reps KNOW they need to do the right thing. After all, they're pols . . . .

    I was always told it stood for being in total control of herself and it always seems like I've been called that when I was clarifying to someone that I am in total control of me.  And dog people use it all the time because it did originally mean female dog.  The four letter c word causes me to burst out laughing if someone calls me that because it seems so absurd.  I have that body part but it is a small part in the grand scheme of my body.  Compared to what my mouth is capable of or my hands and for certain my brain, it is a pretty gentle unpretentious and on most days innocuous body part.  So when people say that word all spittal filled it just cracks me up.  This huge drunk guy called me that after tripping over me once when I was still dating my husband.  I burst out laughing.  When we left the bar my future husband was laughing with me too because he's on the smallish side, defending my honor could have been a problem.

    And I tend to think the only reason its all over the news is so they have an excuse to air Ms. California prancing around in a bikini over and over.

    and also the husband of the songstress Jewel, should have been the one to go as well, he looked so like a robot in pretty much every dance he did. He just never seemed to look comfortable or like he was enjoying himself, to me. Then I felt like next week, unless things had changed, it would have been Lawrence's time to go. Lawrence was happy to return to his golf tho, so no harm, no foul, imho.

    I was getting tired if Lawrence Taylor's whiny attitude.  His dancing was marginally better than Ty's (rodeo guy) but his attitude was miles worse.

    Ty will likely be the next one to go even though I can't wait for Chuck to leave.  Unfortunately Chuck's dancing is getting better.  I think it's the first time I've actively disliked a contestant.

    Until I got my DVR I did not watch the usual channels. Now I can actually evaluate programs to determine those I like (Castle, Good Eats, etc.) and those I don't (Kings?)
    I rent, via Netflix, the really good stuff that HBO et al. produce (Dexter, Rome, etc.)
    I'm a science nerd and totally obsessed with climate change... so there's stuff on Discovery, and Science channels (etc. again) that clog my queue. I can watch commercials if they interest me, or fast forward to the program. I love, love, love it.

    I've not watch anything but DVDs for the last several years because I won't tolerate commercials. The DVR has brought me back into the TV fold. I still think I might be a bit out of touch though.

    and since Josh has an Xbox 360 we can watch what is available in their watch instantly catagory on a television.  Our DVR is old and fritzing a bit right now.  Need a new one soon.
