BTD is watching Game 5 of the Bulls-Celtics series.

At my house, it's American Idol and DWTS. Songs tonight on AI will be from the rat-pack era.

    I survived.  But just barely.

    I think this series has taken ten years off my life.

    When the anouncer said "everyone is on the edge of their seats" I was already in the fetal position on the floor.

    Senior partner commented that the arbitration panel looked disinterested at a certain point.  Client, non-lawyer, corrected him to uninterested.  I thought of you! :)

    people can be so interested in spectator sports.  I moved to Italy 20 years ago, never got into soccer, and have enjoyed not following sports in general.  Oh, how I remember with bittersweet nostalgia betting on football, basketball and baseball in my youth. But I'm better off without it all, thank you.

    But soccer and hockey are followed in this house.  My spouse can watch an entire soccer game and the noises coming out of him sound like he's playing in it too.

    From Think Progress (and check out the bolded paragraph - that's the one that raised the hair on the back of my neck):
    At 10:32am, President Barack Obama reached Specter and told him "you have my full support" and "thrilled to have you."

    Specter told the president, "I'm a loyal Democrat. I support your agenda."

    Just hours later, however, Specter reaffirmed his unfounded opposition to Obama's pick to head the Office of Legal Counsel, Dawn Johnsen:

    Q: How are going to vote on the Dawn Johnsen confirmation?

    SPECTER: I'm opposed to the nominee for Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Council, Dawn Johnsen.

    Johnsen has been a tireless advocate for limited executive power firmly bounded by law, not to mention a strong torture opponent -- concerns Specter purportedly shares. In March, while still a Republican, Specter said that filibustering Johnsen was "under consideration," though he never explained the basis for his opposition. Indeed, Specter declared his opposition to Johnsen just seconds after explaining that his opposition to warrantless wiretapping and Bush's interrogation tactics were part of his decision to leave the GOP.

    Rumor in Washington has it that Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-HI) may step down from the chairmanship of the Appropriations Committee, giving the seat to Sen. Pat Leahy (D-VT) -- and opening the chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee to the new Democrat, Specter. From this post, Specter could indefinitely delay hearings on Johnsen, not to mention completely kill Leahy's efforts to hold a truth commission to examine Bush's use of torture and other illegal practices.

    Specter also reaffirmed his opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act today. Apparently to Specter, opposing progressive legal nominees and stomping on workers' rights is all part of proving he is a "loyal Democrat" in support of Obama's agenda.

    Yeah, Arlen will be a great Democrat...

    and then Fringe. I prefer Fringe over watching someone get booted on DWTS  :)

    Temp is dropping 30 degrees tonight and for the first time we will have consecutive sunnyish days at the temp it's really supposed to be this time of year. We haven't had much spring yet, so I'm excited!

    The management of my building sent around a memo telling us the AC was not on.

    Really? Gee. I hadn't noticed amidst all the HEAT EXHAUSTION.

    I have fans, I have six fans. I even have a fan for my pet rats. When Rats splay out they splay.

    I can't wait for Fringe, though.

    to disagree tonight. I'm with you on the first part but think talent wise he was trumped this evening by Danny. (Still think the most upside belongs to Allison).

    I look forward to Jeralyn's opinion of Danny tonight since she was throwing a little support his way early on when I didn't think he had it in him. Tonight he showed I was wrong.

    It's actually the first time that I've been impressed with Danny -- he was very good.   But no one does over the top outrageous fun like Adam.

    I think you may have actually described Adam perfectly this evening. After his entrance, it struck me that he could have done his song tonight in drag and no one would have blinked.

    But Adam is still more "American Idol" material. I think he will win it. I thought Chris was good tonight too. I hope the finalists are Adam and Danny, but I think Chris has a lot more fan support than Danny.

    We wish. Lambert is delightful. A little less complex than he could be, but not Liberace I don't think.

    I'd been waiting for him to do an good old Broadway show tune. I'd have preferred something more baritone rather than his falsetto-y tenor; Who Can I Turn To? if he was going to pick Anthony Newley. Feeling Good was ok if artsy. I'd like to hear this kid put his heart out there in a song, but who am I?

    What does Jamie Foxx have to do with the 60s rat pack theme?

    I love Allison -- the girl has a career -- but would like to see her find a haircolor that matches her skin tone.

    I'm tired of looking at Adam's tongue.  When I think of him, all I see is that tongue.

    Biggest Loser was the most suspenseful but DWTS made my night since Melissa didn't get voted off despite her injury. As for AI, I think I'm just not a Rat Pack music fan, none of the performances blew me away.

    I totally forgot to flip over at the end to see if I could catch it . . . Glad to hear Melissa is still in. I have to wonder if her spine is outta whack along with her rib issue. I've had my spine/ribs out of alignment a few times in my life. Talk about pain! And NEVER laugh in that situation. You generally need a chiro for that though, and I'm not sure if reg docs go there. I usually head straight to a chiro, lol!~ One adjustment and you can breathe again. Look forward to hopefully seeing her back next week :)

    but it was Chuck (with Julianne Hough).  His dancing was seriously improving so I'm sure they were disappointed.  But frankly I didn't like him from day 1.  There was something about his personality that made him (almost) unwatchable to me.

    I expect Ty never expected to last this long, but there is something very likeable about them.

    (sigh)  With me, it's a personality as well as dance contest.  Shallow, I know.

    Amazing Grace on TMAX.  The story of William Wilberforce's fight in Parliament to abolish slavery in the British Empire.

    Missed the end.  My wife got control of the TV when I got up to get coffee.  Damned addictions.

    But guess who won.  

    Did watch, in person fado singer Mariza.  She was born in Mozambique.  Her mother is of that ethnicity.  Her father is Portuguese.  Wonderful singer and song stylist with terrific musicians on stage.  And her arranger is excellent.
