Nuggets-Lakers Game 3: Go Nuggets!

This town is psyched. The TL Kid tells me this is an event that might happen once every 25 years.

The Nuggets haven't lost at home since March -- 16 consecutive home games including 6 in the playoffs. They last played the Lakers in Denver on Feb. 27 and they won, 90-79.

I'm actually going to watch. If you are, please join in.

Update: End of first quarter, Nuggets up by 2. Can they keep the momentum? [More...]

Update: Halftime, Nuggets up by 4. Kobe is more active, but he can't do it alone. Go Melo!

Update: Nuggets leading by 8 points, their biggest so far. The Tweets from the Pepsi Center are all about the electric atmosphere and pumped crowds.

Update: 9:15: Kobe makes a shot and the announcer wets his pants. He just started hyperventilating and screeching. No wonder I'm not a basketball fan. The score is now tied.

Update: The Nuggests lose. Kobe did a great job. The woman interviewing him is annoying. Back Monday at the Pepsi Center, it's not over yet.

Keys to the game imo -

How bad will Derek Fisher be and will Phil Jackson stick with him.

Will Kobe go for 50 and does he have too?

Officiating. How will the officials call it? Does the NBA want the Lakers to win? To put it bluntly. And how much do they want it?

    ...keys to the game:

Rebounding, foul shooting and bench play.  So far, the Nuggets are doing well in all three areas.

Kobe goes for 50, Lakers lose.  He isn't going to beat this team by himself, especially with Melo matching him point for point.

What makes you think the NBA doesn't want to see a match-up of two of its brightest young stars--Melo v. Bron?  Especially when the Nuggets are the feel good team of the play-offs.

I mean really--if they managed to get Jeralyn to jump on the bandwagon with both feet...

I couldn't be happier to see Chauncey Billups prospering back in his hometown.  He's a great guy and I hope he takes them all the way.

I'm patiently waiting out a rain delay hoping to see the Number 1 ranked Florida Gator softball team on ESPN in their Super Regional against the California Golden Bears. The winner of the best 2 out of 3 advances to the WCWS in Oklahoma City.

Can't stand Breen, Jackson and Van Gundy.

    Painful to listen to them.

should be the key to the second half.  A relatively low-scoring game favors the Lakers.  Smith's three-point shooting is usually how the Nuggets get to 110-120 points.

Good link if you want to take a breather from the game and learn something:

I'm a Laker fan, happy they "won", but I have to say that NBA officials are, without a doubt, the single worst refs in any sport in the world.  Beyond awful, it seems like they have no pride in their jobs or are simply shaving points.  I find it hard to believe Tim Donaghy was the only one.

And BTD, Derrick Fisher awful?  Please, it never ceases to amaze me how many people sell that cat short.  He's tought, smart, can hit the three when it counts, and he knows how to win.  He may certainly be a step slow on D and not drive and dish of like point guards should (no one in the NBA really does anyway).

And if Carmelo Anthony uses four pivot feet and takes five steps again, I'm going to scream.  The NBA has turned into team handball because of it.

    Whatever, go Lakes.

Derek Fisher has been terrible (none / 0) (#15)
by lobary on Sun May 24, 2009 at 10:08:38 AM EST
He is not the same Derek Fisher. He cannot defend the younger, quicker guards, and his shot has been abysmal throughout the 2009 playoffs. If the Nuggets win this series, Fisher will be a big reason why.

this heated in the NBA in quite some time...

almost feel like a fight could break out at any second...

did you guys see how winded Kobe was at the end of the game...

not a big basketball fan (not since taking 4-6 steps was no longer walking) but man this is quite a series...
