Top Three: Susan Boyle, Julian Smith and Diversity. Third place: Julian Smith. Second: Susan Boyle. She was totally gracious. She said, "The best won." She smiled, laughed and raised her skirt and showed some leg.

12:54 pm MT: Boyle’s on. You can watch her final performance here. Standing ovation from judges. Piers: Greatest performance in BGT history, you should win. Female judge agrees. Simon says whether she wins or loses, she should hold her head high. She faced her critics and she won.

Uh-Oh. Diversity gives Boyle a run for her money. The crowd loves her, the judges give them a standing ovation. Simon says the competition is wide open now and calls them "sheer perfection."

Last act, Julian Smith. Another standing ovation. Simon calls it brilliant. Piers: Perfect way to end an incredible night.

that they're all talented, and these talent shows are so difficult because the talents are different. That's why professional competitions (Oscars, Emmys, etc.) have categories.

But it is a lot harder to solo than to perform in a group. She ought to have won.

I hope I've seen the last of Susan Boyle...but I expect not. No doubt there will be a leggy pinup poster available soon.

She's a caution, alright. Terrific voice, wierd persona.

Don't click on any links to video or stories about her, and change the channel if she appears on your tv.

Tens of millions of people are hoping to get at least one CD of her singing. Last count I heard was over 200 Million viewings of her video on You Tube.

The most viewed single video of all time on YouTube is The Evolution of Dance with just over 120 million views. The top dozen different videos of Susan on BGT don't quite match that.

But lets keep it in perspective. When using YouTube as a point of reference for greatness, there are nearly 100 million views of Charlie Bit My Finger

there are many video postings of the Susan Boyle performance and they totalled all those video viewings to come to the over 200 Million. It's easy enough to check out.

They were amazing. And I sure hope that Susan Boyle has a recording contract because I'm looking forward to buying her CD.

Susan has a nice career ahead of her in music.

I don't usually watch this show or Idol, so maybe that is how he always acts.

At the semi-finals, he said made it sound like dance troupes were so last year.

He did praise them tonight and I think he knew they would win. But I think he thought Boyle should win.

I really liked Julian, you should watch his performance.

Would have been hard to pick. In a way I'm glad Diversity won, just because Susan Boyle and Julian will probably get at least one CD deal, and a chance at a decent career even without winning, especially Julian because he is young. A dance troupe though has to rely on live performances and needs the jump start from winning. (Well, I suppose they could put out a DVD, but I don't thing that sells as well as music.)

videos @ SFMOMA are a do not miss. A very creative artist. South Africa.

Now on to the subject of music. SFO performed Verdi "Requiem" last night w/Runnicles conducting. Patricia Racette bowed out as soprana soloist on Thurs. Heidi Melton,who makes her Met debut next season, sang beautfully. Now that's a voice!

...featured at Seattle's Frye museum as part of their "Puppet Show" program.

This show includes Kentridge's "What Will Come", an anamorphic installation that I think is truely quite amazing. (Even a semi-decent YouTube Video does "What Will Come" barely any justice at all.) If you're in the Seattle area this summer or fall, go to this show if you can. If only for the Kentridge.

SFMOMA. Also, I learned he is doing Shostakovich's "The Nose" at Metropolitan Opera next season with Gergiev conducting.
