Twitter Hacked: Time to Change Your Password?

The New York Times reports on the hacking of Twitter passwords. You may want to change your password. It also has tips for Google account users.

Using a different password for every account is a pain, but it's far better than the alternative.

with both life and twittering?  Sounds like the incoming would be overwhelming even if the twitterer never sent out anything.

You can choose who to follow separate from those who follow you. For example, I only follow 58 people/entities while 490 follow me. And I rarely tweet myself. But I check it many times a day. It's great for getting immediate notification of breaking news and for seeing who's writing about what without having to visit everyone's websites or put them in an RSS feed. Great for lazy people.

is to not involve myself in any of that "social networking" nonsense. frankly, i'm such a boring, shallow person, i can't imagine there being even more boring and shallow people who'd have even the least interest in me, or what i'm doing at any given moment. heck, i rarely have that level of interest in me!

Fiction written as a series of tweets.

    Othar Tryggvassen on Twitter

See - you don't have to write about yourself!  You can create a fictional persona and have them twitter instead.

(If Othar's tweets don't make sense to you, it's because you are missing a few details - who Othar is, what he thinks his purpose in life is and the fictional world he lives in.  If Othar seems not exactly sane to you, that's fine.  He's not.)

posted a diary of their time in jail, after being released, 140 characters at a time, from the journal they kept while in. It was riveting for a while. As the time went on, less so.

I have no interest in Twitter for making personal updates, but it's great for informing others of information you want to show.

Yesterday the comic Dave Chappelle decided to give an impromptu concert in downtown Portland at Pioneer Courthouse Square (an outdoors public square). He was expecting a handful to show up. News got out, though, spread far and wide through Twitter, Facebook, etc. and thousands crowded into the square last night.

There was no publicity for this event. Just electronic word-of-mouth. Amazing.
