Napolitano: Ramping Up War on Terror, Bush-Era Policies, More Stimulus Payments

Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano gave a major address today. Shorter version: It's time to ramp up the war on terror, give more money to cops and tweak but not eliminate some Bush policies, and encourage citizens to report suspicious activity. From the Wall St. Journal this morning:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is expected to outline Wednesday the Obama administration's domestic approach to preventing terrorist attacks -- a strategy that will rely in large measure on refining and expanding initiatives launched under President George W. Bush.

We can't afford a health care plan, but we can afford more cops for New York City.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says the city will get $35 million in transit security stimulus money that the city can use to hire more police officers. She says the money will put more than 100 additional cops on city subways and busses.

Let's fund some more anti-immigrant measures as well.

Earlier today, at the Council on Foreign Relations, [Napolitano] says more needs to be done to share counterterrorism efforts with local governments, and even with ordinary citizens. She also defended the Bush-era program of letting local police departments enforce federal immigration laws.

Remember Operation Tips? What does this sound like?

Napolitano said the country's counter-terrorism efforts should include the public, that "you are the ones who know if something is not right in your communities, such as a suspicious package, or unusual activities."

    What ever happened to neighborhood watch?

    Neighborhood watch has been around a lot longer than Bush policies. Please a whole lot of people have little signs in their window signifying they would likely report gang style problems. Why not extend this terrorist stuff to the common citizen. For me it would help to be more transparent to know who is in the area. Heck America has registered child molesters openly on the Internet.

    Why not have closely related Islamic groups identified and listed. It has been lately in Chicago on the South side that Islamic groups have been arrested for money laundering, raising and sending money to finance war radicals in the Middle East. Michigan also known to have a very highly populated area of Islam radicals. Are we profiling, you bet.

    To save my ass and America I will profile all over the place. I am a Vietnam veteran tired of hearing about patriotism, I knew very much that I was giving my life for this country, I volunteered and would do it again in the Middle East but now maybe this criticism like this stuff about oh they are making Americans feel guilty to even look at those Islamics that might very likely could consider Americans infidels beating Americans in our own system watching while we slide into the abyss.  

    Did anyone ever cruse through some city neighborhoods to view these signs? They have been around for a long time.

    to deploy the assets of Cabinet officers beyond that of Tim Geithner. It also helps to avoid overexposure of the president.  However, Secretary Napolitano, in her interview on Bill Maher's HBO show, was not very impressive. It was surprising to me since she received high marks as Arizona's governor from so many.

    Napolitano's speech today was similar to her appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher, poised to pwn, to own everything, claiming dominium. It is the same function creep as every other government entity pursues, using their existing budget and resources to grow their budget, their scope and reach of power.

    This is not about American security, it is about expanding the police state. It will work hand in glove with the military in the streets, once the NSA TIA Data Center total control grid is firmly in place. It is for the New World Order, not Americans. We can glimpse today at similar developments in two of America's partners in Eschelon: Germany and U.K., concomitant with Napolitono delivering her remarks.

    Obama's 7 million Civilian corps, will certainly contain tattle-tale squads nothing like Neighborhood Watch, they will be Orwellian.

    The fact that they have passed laws, now, to allow police in several jurisdictions, simply to shoot occupants of automobiles, dead, that represent no exigent threat to anyone, telegraphs the direction things are headed.

    If government's actions were about security, then they would be about freedom, not a police state. We would secure things like the free marketplace of ideas, such as the Internet. The posturing of Cyber Commands and the like are police state. If they really wanted to secure the Internet, rather than locking it down,  they would be doing things like permanently prohibiting taxation of the Internet. Obviously, their intent, is anything but.

    Janet's never found a distateful form of spying on the citizenry.

    Her state, under her direction, was one of the big leaders in spy cam deployment.

    She's a bureaucrap through and through.
