Reviewing The Bidding On Health Insurance Cost Control

For the benefit of ConservaDems and Blue Dogs, let's review the bidding on cost controls and deficit reduction in the various health care reform proposals:

(1) Conrad's Co-ops Are Useless.

(2) Wyden's Exchanges Are Useless.

(3) Robust Public Option Saves $110 Billion.

Who are the deficit hawks again?

Doctors, hospitals and other providers all agree to accept substantially lower payments for a whole new group of patients.

if they don't now.  Just as it is now, in markets where they have to accept low reimbursements because they don't have enough higher-reimbursement patients available, they'll cram their schedules so they're still making okay money.  If they can't do that, they'll leave the market.  In markets where they can attain a high enough patient load without accepting the low reimbursements, they'll refuse to accept the low reimbursement patients.

And the bottom line is it'll simply mean more competition for patients to obtain access to doctors who accept the low reimbursements.

I'm not for modeling it after the Medicare reimbursement strategy.

is no care for these people at all.  I bet people who don't have any care will be okay with having to go to whatever doctor they can get.

The downside here is more competition for those already on government aid.  But I'm not really ok with denying millions of people care so that others can have less competition for doctors.

you live? My parents don't seem to have any problem finding Drs and my mom says that whenever she needs to see another, they always refer one for her.

As one with no care at all, that sounds pretty darn good to me . . .
