The Rolling Stones and Guns 'N Roses singing "Salt of the Earth."

Here's one of my favorite statue/sculptures, in downtown Omaha, at the Lewis & Clark landing, along Omaha's Missouri River Walkway. If you're ever there, it's well worth a visit. It's the second-largest labor monument in the U.S. Two-hundred-fifty tons of cement and 39,000 pounds of steel were used in its construction. It's by Matthew Placzek.

    thanks for doing your part, along with Steve M., to insure social security remains solvent...I plan on being a deadbeat for a long time in this regard.

    Don't know if boy or girl.  Old fashioned.

    Have two boys so a girl would be nice but we'll take healthy.

    Went to the theatre the night before I was to report for an induced labor, went to dinner and ate while timing my contractions.  No rush, it was hours before we got the go ahead to head to the hospital.

    to finally cut the last of the giant limbs that fell in my yard.  what a pain.  but I will end up with hundreds of dollars of wood for the fireplace this winter.

    Green wood needs to be cut, split and stacked for at least a year before it's burnable. Burning green wood will get you little heat and more important, will load your chimney up with creosote.  You DO NOT want a chimney fire, which is what heavy creosote in the chimney will inevitably give you.

    Don't burn this stuff until next year!

    mayby a little more was dead so it will be perfect for this winter.  the rest can season for a while.

    but I will have a buttload of dead stuff.

    been dead.  If it's started to rot, forget it.  There's a fairly short window of time for standing dead wood before it starts to rot, depending on the kind of wood.

    Just be really careful what you burn.  And speaking of which, have you had that chimney inspected and cleaned?  If the liner is in bad shape, you can easily start a chimney fire creosote or no creosote.

    Not trying to be a wet blanket here, but safe and reasonably efficient (and enjoyable) wood-burning has more complications to it than most people think who are new to it.

    a presidential vacation.  Except it will only cost me about 50 bucks in bus/ferry tickets.

    Thanks Grandma/Grandpa for making a very wise property investment back when it was cheap to do so.  

    Now I get to hang out with Granny and some old friends, eat clams that I dig up with my feet, and whip around on the sunfish.

    I'm not starting my weekend until after a visit to the gym and then the jail.

    for myself, this weekend is for recovery. right as i got home from vacation, my mgr. informed me that a case (stretching back to 1994) had been returned from review, for some additional work. i've spent the time since then in a frenzied effort to get rid of it, before the end of the fiscal year.

    to add fuel to the fire, the company is in bankruptcy, and also docketed for tax court this november, with roughly 250mill in taxes on the line. this for an issue going back to 1998.

    i have been a tad............stressed.

    some day, i hope to work in the present.

    The crud is hanging on with Joshua and I.  I thought that perhaps we had turned the corner and we did go do a bit of shopping with spouse last night as he collects his last few items he wants before he leaves to train up for the end of the month deployment.  Halfway through the outing though both Josh and I started feeling not so good again.  This morning we are both just as ill as day one.  Bleh!

    Nausea, low grade headache/fever and aches all over my body.  Stayed home for a day and a half this week.  Dragged myself into work yesterday even though I felt like I was 105 years old.

    I'm really looking forward to being able to sleep in tomorrow!
