has a cell of Al Qaeda and Nuclear Bomb.

This racket sounds like a Peter Sellers film called "The Mouse That Roared!"

but that wonderful movie (and book) did not come to mind.  Thanks for the reminder!  And then there was a movie about Canadians and border wars, with John Candy that also comes to mind. . . .

which leads to the question of which country is going to be next to host Al Quaeda to cash in on our baksheesh?  Or perhaps we ought to just watch for where the next SNL skit puts Forte as Petraeus and Armisen as . . . well, whichever country it will be, Armisen is far better at another head of state than he is as our head of state.

I wonder how socialized-medicin-hatin' Cletus and Churleen feel about paying through the nose for THAT, once this war "succeeds".

Sadly nobody likes me.  The people my leaders invaded don't like, my leaders don't like me, everybody but me gets great healthcare but me.  I like how it is ethically unacceptable for Iraq to not have UHC on my dime and it is also not ethically acceptable for my leaders to not receive fully covered care that is very affordable for them on my dime, but it is unethical and unacceptable and unAmerican and uneverything for me to have guaranteed affordable fully covered healthcare on my own dime.  Everybody else gets it on my dime but me.  It's heinous!

... and hear about your situation, MT.

I'm stunned at the mindset that will opt for open-ended war spending -- which, hey, will pick up the Iraq healthcare tab or subsidize ME partner Israeli programs no problemo -- while simultaneously being viciously cruel to women and children here.

    Ellie, MT, I think we've got the solution (5.00 / 1) (#18)
by Cream City on Sun Jan 10, 2010 at 05:33:11 PM EST
as we synthesize all the threads here.  Put on hold that book plan from the other thread, Ellie.  You're just the mad writer, and MT is just the "consultant," to approach Michael Moore with a remake of "The Mouse That Roared."

But this time, the plot is even more convoluted by the revelation in our country that the "invaders" who land here to get our aid actually have a better health care plan back home.  So we end up surrendering to them, so that we can become the United States of Fenwick!

IMHO, the Marx Bros.' "Duck Soup" is one of the great masterpieces of antiwar art of the 20th Century, right up there with Picasso's painting of the bombing of "Guernica", Dalton Trumbo's novel "Johnny Got His Gun," or Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem."

to fight with us in Afghanistan :)  They are already part of our antiterror network.  Kosovo is too.  Nigeria though.....smells pretty fresh :)  I don't know what the actual stats are on a perceived Al Qaeda following there.  Sudan has one, Sudan has one that will come online as being a problem very soon if it doesn't get knocked out.  They are probably already looking at where to knock it out and knock it down as I type this though.  I wonder if the administration hasn't taken so much crap now for having X number of "terror fronts" that they will do Sudan much quieter than Yemen.  Announcing Yemen as they have validates the troop build up in Afghanistan somewhat.  It was useful in a propaganda sense.  I shouldn't type such things since I'm trying to support the Afghan build up because they are too honest :)  I can't pretend I don't know how the game is played though anymore since my family's life has been a part of that game for some time.  It is very hard to support the Afghan effort though when the administration and our leaders are so willing to sell every American completely out in all of its other policies.  If ever we've been the very essence of a bunch of disgusting neoliberals, it is now.
