    nothing works better for a hangover/funky stomach than saltines and water.

    Just a little bit of water at a time to wash down the saltines.  Too much water is a bad thing, starts sloshing around in there.  Saltines are perfect because they help absorb the water, but there's no butter or anything greasy to rile things up again.

    I hate saltines, but I always have them on hand just in case.  

    Course not drinking too much usually works too... but that's not nearly as much fun :)

    nothing quite like more booze to let your body get back to "normal".

    Although personally I prefer a mamosa or irish coffee to a bloody mary.  Not big on tomato juice, or vodka really.

    Saltines and water is for the really dire situations.  Or pre-sleep if you want to avoid a morning situation entirely.

    I'm not big on tomato juice either...I haven't had a sip in my life without the other BM ingredients...the spice just clears out all the cobwebs for me.

    Irish Coffee is another goodie...momosa ain't my bag, I don't get down with champagne at all...instant headache, even juiced down.

    I've learned to mix in the waters during a night of hardcore boozing...great preventive technique.  Others swear by the 2 Advils before bed, but I try to never waste any kidney life on anything less than a perc or din....I rarely ever take aspririn or ibuprofen, that stuff is for kids.

    Alternate a glass/bottle of water with each alc drink. Keeps you better hydrated and you don't drink as much. Have just as much fun and don't wake up feeling so "pretty" in the AM...

    anti-pain killer for some reason.  I almost never take that stuff unless it's really dire.  I don't really take cold medicine either.

    I've had dr.s prescribe me ibuprofen for severe pain, because i have no tolerance for it so it works.  My friends were not too pleased with me...

    All my friends and fam have the script I wrote handy when pain meds become available..."Prescription strength Tylenol just doesn't work for me doc, I'm dying over here!"

    Though with how the co-pays keep going up, they're not that much cheaper from CVS than from the guy on the corner...that game may soon be obsolete unless you're on the cadillac plan.

    Changed the drink to purple 'Restore' flavour Vitamin Water. Mix it with a couple ibuprofen on work days or the aforementioned bowl on a free day and the stuff is like magic

    So far anyway. I honestly don't remember gov-elect Rick Scott's position on the subject. I had so many other reasons to vote against him it just didn't matter. But it will be hard enough creating those 700k new jobs he promised without turning down federal money.

    Even if those are only temporary, that's still huge.  And that's not census-temporary either, it can take years to complete this kind of project.

    The big dig in Boston created thousands of "temporary" jobs.  By the time the project was done, half of them were ready to retire anyway - and everyone else had a pretty nice resume item in addition to the years of economic security already experienced.

    I'm willing to bet they would at least last long enough until the overall economy was out of the woods.

    I need you to splain something to me.  I bought Zoey an adorable black and white Houndstooth jumper and now I'm accused of trying to secret Roll Tide paraphernalia into their house.

    How does Alabama get to claim all Elephants, all Crimson, and all Tides, all white capital letter A's and now black and white houndstooth?  WTF, how can one fan base suffer from such an overreaching identity crisis? It is total crap and the world owes Edward VIII for houndstooth.....not Alabama football.  I'm really chapped, houndstooth is a well dressed woman staple!

    unless you attended "The University." Houndstooth, even more than elephants, signifies Bama and Bear Bryant. He always wore a houndstooth hat, except when he played in domed stadiums. then he was 'inside,' and took off his hat.

    I've watched it a couple of times because my husband hoardes and sometimes it drives me absolutely crazy.  So I have this thing I do when he deploys, I throw it all away and hoarders really don't remember all the stuff they save because it is mostly about anxiety.  It was a bummer though when he was gone this last time because my asthma was so horrible I didn't get to shake down the whole house like I usually do.

    And then there are actually positive sides to hoarders.  They like stability A LOT so they seek out jobs that offer that.  And after Josh was born and we became one income, I have this spouse that hoardes job awards which is important in the military and being promoted.  It drives me a little crazy though too because he has a leg in this fire and this fire and this fire, but he wins some pretty serious military competitions.  He was runner up at the start of his career for soldier of the year....you know....of the whole Army.  He is competing right now for another really serious award that will allow him to make W5 fairly easily probably.  It took me awhile to realize though that he hoardes that stuff too, but he does because he has career anxiety too...and that part works.  And he hoardes military training and info, his brain is a giant file cabinet of the stuff.

    watched it and one of the things that I came away with was that there's something about hoarders and cats.

    a cat family.  The whole family does the hoarding thing except for my mother-in-law I guess.  Sadly though she had passed before we met and married.  It drives my brother-in-law crazy too....and sometimes you just have to vent a little.  I noticed in the show they tell the other family members to not let the hoarders get away with it, keep them in line because in the end they will end up harming themselves.

    is a hoarder and it is simply awful. You can't get into one bathroom because it is so full of junk. When I first met my husband and he took me over to his parents, she had only one usable bathroom because the shower in the master bath was filled to the brim with junk. When we moved her and my FIL, my SIL was in tears because she they had a yard sale trying to get rid of stuff and my MIL was literally taking out of the hands of people wanting to buy it and saying she had decided not to keep it. We took so much crap to goodwill behind her back it wasn't even funny and I dread what will happen if my FIL dies first and we are left to deal with her hoarding and trying to move that again.

    I'm very glad that my spouse doesn't argue with me when I dejunk.  He knows that it isn't healthy and needs to be done.  It can make him feel out of sorts though, so sometimes he'll leave the house when it is going on.  But he says that when he comes home from being deployed it is so nice that all of his spaces aren't cluttered anymore and he feels a sense of relief.  How funny though huh, that it becomes a source of anxiety too for them when everything is so cluttered?  We haven't been to his father's house in years.  I'd probably flip out, I spent hours trying to clean the kitchen the last time I was there. His sister helped him move after the death of her mother and she cried the whole time because it is very hard for them to pack and move things too and she has the problem as well and she felt out of control and lost the whole time and her father was no help at all.

    for your husband's family. It is really hard for everyone to deal with. You can't really do much in my MIL's kitchen because the counters are covered with stuff. I'm afraid my son has the same problem. I have to get rid of his stuff when he is on vacation with my mother but you know what? He NEVER misses the stuff when he gets back. He doesn't even want me to throw away old school papers!

    The only thing that did temporarily work for my MIL is that a neighbor of her's died and left so much clutter than the kids were in tears trying clean her apartment out. So for a short while she was getting rid of stuff. Every time I came there she wanted to "give" me something and I always took it because I knew that I could go through it and give the stuff that I didn't want to goodwill. I always tell myself that my junk can be put to good use by somebody else when I give it away but she just can't make that connection.

    as far as campaign politics is concerned. HRC lost in 2008 on the miscalculation that her left base was covered. The President's campaign advisors may be making the same mistake. They may be totally spooked by imagining a potential run from Bloomberg or Petraeus and thinking that they have the left bases covered, when it is not.

    current troops who don't want repeal of DADT should leave the military.  Is Petraeus solidifying his base for a 2012 run?  

    Why do I say this? Because in 2010 biography of Justice Brennan, the author states the Dems. wanted Ike to run as a Dem. and were disappointed when he decided to run as GOP.

    to be an election based on the economy not nat'l security.  Besides, what would his basis be, that we need to double down further in Afghanistan?

    Ike handled it differently re Korea in 1952, and signaled that he would resolve the situation over there quickly, one way or the other.

    Re the fact about Ike running as a Dem from the Brennan book, I believe that one has been talked about for many years, including Truman at some point allegedly offering to step aside if Ike wanted to run as a Dem.

    the Four Loko ban in NY?  It's a stimulus program...a black market stimulus program.

    Today is the last day to buy legally in NYC...and already cans are avialable for sale on Craigslist for 4 times the manufacturers suggested retail price.  It all makes sense to me now:)

    ...called "Auction Kings." Someone brought in a case of unopened (but not safe to drink at this point anyway) Billy Bear to be auctioned off, with the cardboard case incatct(always a biggie to have the box, i've come to learn from watching Roadshow and others). First, the auction house owner had the beer appraised by an expert, who placed the value at "Zero." Literally, he said it was worthless. But, lo and behold, it ended up selling for a hundred-plus bucks. What do the experts know?

    It's been high 20's on my morning commutes the last few days.

    Just returned from NYC and can attest to the need for gloves, scarves and a down- or other very warm coat.  Walked from Rockefeller Center back to my hotel at 79th and Amsterdam and it was a cold experience, especially for a Key Wester.
