New Year's Eve Open Thread

It's absolutely frigid in Denver but more than 100,000 are expected on the mall downtown to watch the fireworks at 9 and midnight. Things look warmer in Times Square.

We wish everyone a happy, healthy, safe and personally rewarding New Year.

This is an open thread, all topics welcome.

I just finished 'The Ghostwriter'. I liked it a lot. Great looking, smart script, suspenseful, little violence. I watched the interview with Polanski on the DVD and he summed it up nicely: I make films for adults.

We have taken very few photos to keep so far.  It has been really absurd, but all the adults in the family seem to be spending most of our time right now setting up impossible conditions for it to shoot in.  Then we oooh and ahhh about what the thing can do.  It is either that or we thumb through the literature that came with it about IS lenses and talk about which one we should get.  Someone should take a photo we intend to keep with it first though probably huh?

likely new in-laws and had such a scream of a time.  And we turned on the tube and watched the lit up MoonPie drop in Mobile.  My counterpart on the other side of our kids' relationship says outloud, "I'm so embarrassed for Alabama right now" as we watched the MoonPie drop:)

With two SEC football teams she thinks we should at least drop a lit up football.  After the Citrus Bowl game she has agreed to go with us to 'The Black Swan', girls only...the guys are watching the kids for us.  And probably wiping the sweat off their brow that they somehow ducked out of the ballerina movie.
