    Some good Orlando news (5.00 / 3) (#3)
by ruffian on Tue Apr 13, 2010 at 11:06:57 AM EST
The 12 year old girl that was missing in the swamp all weekend has been found alive and as well as can be expected, pending medical exam.  So good to see a story like this end well.

We got our annual 'big brother is watching you' internet use warning at work, so I'm going through some TL withdrawal during working hours. Reading you all on the phone, but not posting much. Sigh.

    I sympathize... (none / 0) (#4)
by kdog on Tue Apr 13, 2010 at 11:18:05 AM EST
I don't think I could get through the grind without TL...we get those warnings on occasion, I just ignore them...show me what work ain't getting done is the stock answer I have on file should I ever get singled out, and the answer is none.

I got Little Feat comin' up in May to do the same, just back from vacay and it's like I never left, bored and burnt out.

Tower of Power will be in Japan.

Anybody I've ever played the Feat for has loved the Feat...even my old man who didn't care for much of my rock-n-roll really dug them.

I hear rumors of a Lowell George movie in the works...that would be cool.

    Grew up, moved to CA.

Guess who lives a few miles from my home now?

Yep, most all of the band members.

Met the gang a few times through friends. They all play golf and have invited me to hack around with them sometime on the course, but they usually play during the week and I'm still a  working stiff, so, no go...

We helped out a little with Richie Hayward's benefit event, it was right near my home.

    Should be a great concert!

    Here's another one.

Elton John's lead guitarist's kid goes to my kids' school. Davey got the band together, minus  Sir Elton, and my kids and bunch of others performed with the band at a school fundraiser at a local club.

Not quite the same level as Salma or Richie, but pretty cool anyway. Here's a video from the event:

though Sir Elton is on my sh*t list, the special lady and I took to calling him "Elton John Pinche Cabron" in Chichen Itza when they shut down half the site in preparation for his big concert at the ruins.

Musta been one helluva show though...what a setting, like Floyd Live at Pompei.

I just found out that one of my all time favorite harp players, Norton Buffalo: late of the Steve Miller Band, that killer solo in Bonnie Rait's version of Runaway, Commander Cody etc just succumbed to lung cancer..A definite loss to the planet: the musical one and the spiritual one.

The team has assigned the name Australopithecus sediba to their finds.

I also appreciate how O is getting good smarts marks from his Russkie counterpart.  Nothing wrong with a good working relationship, for a change, with the world's second most powerful nuclear power.
