Saturday Morning Open Thread

Bill Belichick has decided to draft every available Florida Gator. Good move. (Kidding aside, Hernandez in the 4th was a steal. He'll catch 60 balls from Brady next year. Gronkowski (NE's 2nd round pick) won't see the field ahead of Hernandez imo.)

Can the Bulls even their series with the King? I'll be watching this afternoon to see. (No I won't. Game is tomorrow.)

Tomorrow is the Liege-Bastogne-Liege cycling race. I'm going to go with Andy Schleck to repeat.

This is an Open Thread.

WASHINGTON--In yet another disgraceful capitulation to Turkey's threats, President Obama today once again failed to properly recognize the Armenian Genocide, offering euphemisms and evasive terminology to characterize this crime against humanity, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA)...

As a Senator and presidential candidate, Obama pledged repeatedly to recognize the Armenian Genocide and promised "unstinting resolve" to end the Darfur Genocide, stating, "America deserves a leader who speaks truthfully about the Armenian Genocide and responds forcefully to all genocides. I intend to be that president."...

Since then, while stating that his personal views of the events of 1915 have not changed, Obama has refrained from properly characterizing this crime against humanity and going so far as to oppose Congressional Armenian Genocide legislation (H.Res.252), which he had pledged to support during the 2008 presidential campaign.

Turkey was infuriated in March when a U.S. House of Representatives committee voted on a nonbinding "genocide" resolution over the killings....

Turkey withdrew its ambassador to Washington and has said he will not return until Ankara gets assurances about the fate of the resolution, which the Obama administration opposed.

The U.S. aerospace and defense industry -- including Lockheed Martin Corp, Boeing Co, Raytheon Co, United Technologies Corp and Northrop Grumman Corp -- opposed the measure and warned in March that it could jeopardize U.S. exports to Turkey, rupture U.S.-Turkish relations and put American jobs at risk. Of course the death machine industry would want to sanitize anything that sympathizes with the the fruit of their labor, namely those systematically killed by customers of theirs.

Obama on the other hand, wants to appease the Armenians and the Turkish. Now both groups are furious at him.. although the Turkish government less so...

Oh well another US president bowing to political pressure.. are we surprised?
