I would be embarrassed if my name were attached to this story. Just when you thought the Beltway Media could not be less dignified or relevant, the Politico's John Harris and Marin Cogan prove that wrong.

The inanity and vacuousness of the Beltway is truly stunning.

    If there are so many Very Important Things to be concerned about, then why aren't the Very Serious People reporting those stories instead of writing  this twaddle?

    CA appeals court has ruled that trained employees cannot give kids with Type 1 diabetes their insulin injections or assist a second grader with their insulin pump. With CA schools firing teachers and laying off nurses kids with Type 1 will have no choice, either they go to "special" schools, or they homeschool.

    That's not new.... I have always thought this was discriminatory under law.  Seems is should be required under accomodations through the Americans with Disabilities act.

    It's been that way in our school districts for many years.  My sister went to school everyday to check my nephew's insulin.  They refuse to allow minors to manage their diabetes even when they don't need supervision.  My sister was at school so much, she ended up taking a position as a TA.

    I don't believe a school could block one parent from entering a guardianship contract with another parent from doing this.  Some parents might be able to get creative.

    Children with special needs require a lot of extra things from their parents as is.  I'm in the midst of dealing with the state of Alabama right now about Joshua having a scribe next year for lengthy writing and his testing because there is much more writing in fifth grade.  He can write okay, and it is legible, but he is missing many muscles in his hands and inspite of much practice he has never been able to attain speed and endurance for lengthy writing and timed exams.  I must provide evidence that he needs one.  His teachers are onboard too and helping.

    He doesn't want a scribe though, it makes him too different from the other kids.  So he will be learning keyboarding this summer and if he masters it I will then argue for a laptop or some other sort of assist that has a keyboard.  So my argument and fight may change in midcourse too.

    The laptop sounds like a good compromise. Hope it all works out. We're not in CA, and my insulin dependent kid is 12 and does all her own care, but she was dxd at 4 and needed help at school when she was younger. I really feel terrible for those CA families.

    Type 1 diabetes is part of the ADA accommodations in schools under section 504.  This challenge to trained staff providing assistance to D kids too young to draw their own insulin puts kids at risk and will either require all schools to hire nurses ( which they won't ) or wil force working parents to send their kids to "special" schools. It's a terrible ruling.

    I have a vague recollection that he slammed Edwards for taking dirty union pac money in Iowa. I remember peeking in at Kos and Huffpo and being dumbfounded that no one seemed to be upset about it. Of course, that was when he was the Second Coming of RFK, no matter what he did or said.

    The Obama camp has made it clear from the beginning that they feel they don't need the unions. (That was the old Democratic Party).

    They were focusing their complete attention on independants and moderate Republicans to remake the party. Polls suggest they've lost them already. Still they remain arrogant and hostile to the unions.

    It's going to take a major loss in DC to wake the party up as to where the direction has to go. I think that before this is done, the Obama camp will have done more damage to the Democratic Party than GWB did to the Republicans.

    it through the first page of that article and that was all I could take. I found it interesting the praise for the Clinton Administration. I also didn't find it interesting that Farvreau was in the middle of another PR disaster. I have no use for that guy because he's a slimebag and deserves any bad PR he gets IMO.

    the first face you will see if you click that link is Michael Sheen in a trailer for a movie called Unthinkable.  I only mention this because I happened to catch an interesting thing on cable last night called http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1117646/ which was about the relationship of Tony Blair and Bill Clinton.  Sheen is Blair.

    it was an interesting thing for a political junkie to come across.  I did not watch it closely enough to know how factual it is but it has some interesting performances.  particularly Bill and Hillary Clinton.  I expect to be able to catch it again as it cycles on cable.

    worth netflixing.

    Wants to know if you were part of 'Red Faction Gorilla'?  I didn't even know there was an armed Red Faction nearby :) I did like the movie 'The Special Relationship' though and continue to wonder if there is any fact to the conversations that are depicted.  Particularly that last one where Clinton tells Blair he would advise staying away from the Bush administration because they would leave office the exact same way they came into office.

    A number of years ago when there were 11-12 year olds around here I had a visit from one of the original creators of "The Sims" and the kids went nuts. They gathered around him as he sat and talked to them. At the time my daughter and nieces had discovered a glitch where one Sim could invite another (always the "boyfriend") to swim and the pool was empty and the poor Sim could not get out and so died. Those girls had so much fun having the girl Sims kill their boyfriends! Always trying to crack the code to find another way. The guy just laughed and admitted the glitch.

    I completely agree that this is embarrassing and low. But then again I didn't think it was my business that Clinton was having an affair. Could care less- don't want to hear it.

    Where have these guys been? These bozos including the top bozo have certainly not been running the WH just fine unless they were elected by the repug crowd.

    The war is no where near a conclusion, Guantanamo isn't closed and even if they do close it they will just move the guys they can't charge to Guantanamo II and hold them forevah, they still cater to big pharma and big insurance by forcing a healthcare mandate on individuals while not giving them an affordable option and therefore ensure that private insurance will be perpetuated for at least a few more decades so they can get their campaign contributions, women's abortion rights have suffered a tremendous blow as insurance companies begin to make you purchase a rider to get coverage even if you don't get a  government subsidy, they are still in the pockets of big banks and will water down any real reform proposal to the point that there is no real change and the economy will suffer a second financial meltdown so they can get their campaign contributions, and they have no clue how to take advantage of this spill to create a plan to wean us entirely from oil- mostly because they don't want that because they would not get their campaign contributions.

    I can hardly believe the Celtics pulled out such a win. The second quarter was painful to watch. The first half of the third even more so. I am a fickle fan.

    ...for them in the long run--or as good as can be with these things.  They'll be off most of the sanctions just in time for the '12 season when all the ex-Big Twelve teams come aboard.  That's going to level things out a bit, IMO.

    I don't want to see Oklahoma get awarded the NC they're probably going to have stripped away though.

    these late night bball games are killing me.  Combined with early morning soccer... I don't know how much more of this I can take.

    I mean granted, I do not have to party like a 21 year old for every finals game.  But it's the FINALS!

    Sounds like the Celts were good though. I want the Lakers however. On to game 5 - in about a week. why so long between games when there is no travel? I don't get it. Really hard to sustain my enthusiasm with so much dead time.

    I hadn't even bothered to find out when game 5 was yet.  But a week sounds good.  That's probably how long it will take me to recover.
