Is the World Cup going into competition with the Super Bowl for commercials?  The commercials are great.

but I loved the Snickers commercial this morning with the Divas.  It may be a more common commercial than I am aware of.  I don't watch a lot of regular T.V.

in the first two, but now I'm pulling for BTD to keep his reverse sweep streak alive the rest of the day.

Played a tough and smart game against Nigeria which gave it a good fight but couldn't consolidate after the early goal.

I'm wildly impressed with the African goaltenders keeping their respective teams in it all the way: yesterday, RSA(P)'s half man, half grasshopper Khune vs Mexico (despite a porous defense) and today, Nigeria's Enyeama was just freakin' awesome.

I missed most of the SKorea/Greece match early this AM (getting some work and errands out of the way so I can comfortably lose my mind at 2:05) but I ambiently hoped for a draw because I was torn in two.

I came home with a new bestie: a politely quiet Saudi Arabian who just plain erupted into a bad case of The Fever when I chatted about the WC so far.

My take on why the WC is a sporting event like no other is that even an honorable meh! showing from non-power in the big one ripples through the next generation of players like nothing else, not even hosting or medals in the Olys.

New Saudi BFF was replete with anecdotes about Futbol back home during the era of Saddam.

    Just making it (5.00 / 1) (#9)
