"Outside Agitators" Upsetting The Applecart In Delaware?

Mike Castle, fighting for his political life in Delaware, pulls out the standard retort every challenged Establishment figure relies on -blame the "outside agitators:"

Rep. Mike Castle is blaming the influence of outsiders for the closer-than-expected GOP Senate primary he's locked in against tea party favorite Christine O'Donnell.

[. . .] "This has been a complete out-of-state operation, a political action committee from California, a couple people from Washington, D.C., and that's it. It's not been a local campaign. It's not had local donations," Castle told reporters in downtown Wilmington[.]

Of course only Republican voters in Delaware can actually deny Castle the Senate nomination. We'll see tonight if they do.

Delaware would have had plenty of moderates still registered in the Republican party. Today, I'm not so sure.

If it's true that 54% of the Republican primary electorate thinks Castle is too liberal, he will lose.

In Delaware Chris Coons polls 26 points better against Christine O'Donnell than Mike Castle. Castle's net favorability is 25 points higher than O'Donnell's. That electability gap is even wider than what we saw a month ago when Castle did 20 points better against Coons than O'Donnell.

that not everyone is as confident as you. and the freaky deaky atmosphere this year has everyone sweating a little.

"I'm excited that the Tea Party has gotten behind us," O'Donnell told Fox News host Martha MacCallum Monday. "But I do want to point out that we have broad-based support."
"We've got a lot of Hillary Democrats working behind us -- with us -- because they're frustrated with what this administration is doing," she said.

All hot air?

"She didn't say if she's gotten those Democrats to actually switch parties, since the primary tomorrow is closed and you must be a Republican to take part," noted Talking Points Memo.
