Joe Lieberman will announce tomorrow he won't seek re-election in 2012.

I doubt he'll be missed.

    They played it last night on some newsy program that was on that I wasn't paying attention to until he came on.  Then I shook my head, how was it that I ever thought he was a Democrat after watching that stellar performance?

    Oh, and let's not forget the pathetic way he failed to hold Bush accountable for the debacles following Hurricane Katrina -- like he promised he would.

    Good riddance to bad rubbish. Connecticut can do a lot better.

    In fact, I stopped giving to NARAL and Planned Parenthood when they endorsed Joe Lieberman, and I told them why.

    that CT and the US couldn't have had good, honest mod-lib Repub Sen Lowell Weicker for a longer time.  But the Buckleys of CT wanted him out, and backed Joe.

    Double shame that our guy Al Gore had to dip into the anti-Clinton playbook with his Lieberman gambit in 2000, which Al considered a very clever and bold "out of the box" pick.  Might also have cost him the election, with Joe's reckless comments on MTP about overseas military ballots.

    last of Joe.  He may be headed for a Cabinet post or Senior Advisor.  Secretary of Homeland Security would be fitting since he was allowed to be Chair of that Senate Committee.  Napolitano could always be shuffled around, perhaps, to Attorney General. After all, Joe and Obama are pretty close in terms of right/center politics, except Joe is better on gay issues.

    the elephant that should have been holding the shovel/broom...I daresay Joe has produced more rhetorical manure than any elephant has the other kind.

    Joe won't be disappearing; I'm pretty sure he'll make himself more available than ever to cameras and microphones - and it really would not surprise me if the Obama administration picked him up in the free agent market, either.

    But then, like far too many of his peers, he's done what they always wanted, at the expense of his supposed constituents and the rest of the US, so they got 'good value' from him.

    A pity that we, who paid his salary, didn't.
