Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, chair of the House Oversight Committee, said today the committee will subpoena Eric Holder over the ATF's Fast and Furious program.

This is typical Republican grandstanding. If we're going to complain about Holder, let's discuss the targeting of medical marijuana businesses or the policy on targeted killings of U.S. citizens, not guns that ended up in Mexico.

    Because dead Mexicans - not to mention US border patrol agents - don't count?

    As much as I'd like to see the war on drugs end, this thing is pretty bad, and needs to be investigated

     I have gotten a sick feeling the more I have learned about  Fast and Furious. Whoever thought it was a good idea to let guns"walk" to Mexico and get in the hands of Mexican drug cartels needs to be exposed.

    They either gave, or didn't stop the guns that ended up killing American agents.  Sorry but this is a big deal.

    It's not like we got a crack team of detectives in Congress, someone has to do it, I'll take Issa if the choice is him or no one.

    That being said, Holder ?  He had as much to do with it as Issa.

    And unlike the MM fiasco, this program is known for a fact to have lead to many deaths, and an almost guarantee of more to come.  They people who thought this was a good idea, at the very least should lose their jobs, and possibly do some time in Mexico.

    Part of the problem is real authority was never granted.  There is no reason to go after Holder unless someone implicated him, that's how investigations work.

    They can't even connect the higher ups in the ATF, so going after Holder, as the post indicates, is republican grandstanding, IOW trying to connect the administration by media, not facts.

    It wasn't what Nixon did but the cover up.

    The issue now is that Holder appears to have lied to Congress, possibly to protect Obama.

    I just think they should spend as much time and energy investigating this as they did over the claims of a baseball player.

    Thousands of guns were involved.  

    Hundreds of them have been recovered at various crime scenes in this country and in Mexico.  

    The operation proceeded over the objections of local agents.  

    ATF, DOJ, and ATF personnel were reportedly involved.

    No legitimate law enforcement purpose has been put forward to explain why guns were repeatedly allowed to be purchased by known straw buyers and allowed to leave surveillance and cross into Mexico.

    Must have hit a nerve, got the two Limbaugh protege's all hot and bothered.  Even got Jim bashing a republican president without even knowing it.

    US citizens that take up arms against the country have always, as far as I can tell, been subject to targered killing.  That is what every Union sniper did in the Civil war.  The only difference is more modern technology.

    If so why didn't the ATF or DOJ find those people and fire them rather than threaten the ATF agents and gunshop owner that came forward
