Saturday NFL Open Thread

Wait, what? That's right- SATURDAY NFL Open Thread. My investment touts:

Redskins (-7) (3 units); Cardinals (+4 1/2) (3 units); Ravens (-12) (4 units); Chiefs (-3) (3 units); and the J-E-T-S! JETS JETS JETS JETS! (-3) (5 units.) I'm rooting for the G-Men, but the Jets are going to win.

Also too, here's my top investment opportunity in 4 years - Oklahoma State (-3 1/2) over Stanford. LOVE this one. I like the Cowboys by 20.

Finally, Joe Posnanski on Tebow Time:

The Tebow story might be the only story in recent years about which I literally cannot get enough. We live in the Era of Overkill, and most of the wonderful sports stories lose their joy just a few hours into their news cycle. The story (and Tebow himself) have been hyped, re-hyped, soaked, drained, lauded, scorned, celebrated, mocked, on and on and on, to the point where it’s clear that we’re not even talking about Tebow anymore. We’re talking about so many other fascinating things — faith, teamwork, convention, talent, history, will and so on. We’re probably talking about ourselves.

Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings!

    agrees w/BTD re taxes:

Q: In Washington and Sacramento, there's talk of taxing the rich, but also counterarguments that taxing the top 1 percent takes away investment to grow the economy and create jobs. What's your take?

A: I go back to the Clinton years, when things were very good and the tax rates were higher, and that didn't stop the economy from growing. As I often point out, I've never met an entrepreneur who didn't start a business because he was worried about the taxes he was going to pay. He hopes he will be successful enough to pay taxes. I'm a supporter of restoring taxes to where they were.

Once in a while will you try to give
One little thought to me (no more TEEEEEBOW?)
Though someone else (Tom Brady?) may be
    Nearer you heart.

Once in a while will you dream
Of the moments I shared with you (Jan. 8, 2007, sigh)
    Moments before we two
    Drifted apart (Dec. 24, 2011).

In love's smoldering ember (two Denver losses on a row)
    One spark may remain.
If love still can remember (or at least cover the spread)
    That spark may burn again.
I know that I'll be contented (a 10-unit bet winner)
    With yesterday's memory
Knowing you think of me (or at least the line)
    Once, uh, in a while.

Merry Christmas, Armando, Jeralyn, and all here!

starting qb for a national champion, and no 1 draft pick plays well in the NFL (sporadically).

This story is gripping certain sectors of the national consciousness why exactly? Because the religious right is concerned that they might soon run out of paper mache candidates with which to galvanize the populace?
