You know, this would be a winning political message for President Obama.

    Obama and the other spineless Democrats that have signaled their willingness to gut the program, heard Nancy loud and clear.

    Gutting Medicare would severly damage the party for years to come.

    I wrote my Senator (Durbin) and told him I would never vote for any Democrat that gutted Medicare or S.S. With any luck, so did a lot of people. They need to know that our support isn't unconditional.

    Medicare (and SocSec) is Obama.  

    And it seems it's been his plan since before he entered the primaries to go after Medicare.  And SocSec.

    Obama may use Pelosi, but he doesn't use her to send messages such as hers to the DC Dems. She's useful for keeping voters' hopes alive and getting them to not turn against him right now.

    Beware, Nancy.

    Be scared, Americans.

    The track record doesn't follow though. Pelosi has been left out on a limb way too many times. The Iraq War funding and HCR both come to mind.

    However, President Obama does not seem to have expressed a similar message forcefully and repeatedly.  It seems as if this job is being left to others.   However, Medicare is important to the funding of the Affordable Health Care Act, so any reluctance to irritate Paul Ryan and House Republicans may have to be put aside.

    Except seniors will need to buy even more expensive medi-gap policies to cover what Obama's board of experts decides Medicare will no longer pay for.

    1.  It is a check writing machine.  Take a trip to Florida to see how many people have excessive, self-referred visits to doctors to pass the time.
    2.  It has artificially low payments to providers; the system is propped up by private insurers who pay much more than medicare rates.
    3.  Many seniors have trouble finding doctors who are accepting new medicare patients.
    4.  Obamacare somehow has as a premise that provider payments will be reduced by 29% although Congress never allows this to go through.
    5.  You need medigap insurance and prescription drug insurance even if you have medicare.
