The list was discussed during two meetings between Pakistani and US officials in the past two weeks, and also during US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's talks with Pakistani leaders in Islamabad on Friday, ABC News quoted a US official as saying.
Who is the Amir Hamza that reportedly was killed with Ilyas Kashmiri? IBN News says he was a Talkiban commander. Was he from Wana and a member of Mullah Nazir, considered by Pakistan to be a pro-government tribal group it had no interest in eliminating?
The compound where the raid took place is in Wana in the Ghwakhwa area of South Waziristan:
According to Pakistan officials who asked not to be identified, the U.S. fired three missiles at the Ghwa Khwa compound located about 10 miles from South Waziristan's largest town of Wana, striking two rooms where the men were staying. The compound belongs to a tribesman identified as Mir Ajam Khan with links to local militant groups.
Is he this Amir Hamza who said in 2010:
Amir Hamza, a leading Jamaatud Dawa leader, called upon Islamic countries to impose economic and diplomatic sanctions on all countries that commit or encourage blasphemy of Prophet Muhammad, stating that defense of the prophet's honor is possible only through jihad.
Amir Hamza told the seminar: "Muslims should rise to the occasion and prepare themselves for jihad… It's the deviation from jihad which has encouraged India to plan stoppage of waters flowing toward Pakistan... India is desperately trying to convert Pakistan into [deserts like] Ethiopia and Somalia but we will not let it realize its nefarious designs. We'll settle scores with India."
Kashmiri allegedly was behind the plot with David Headley to attack the Danish news agency over the cartoon of the Prophet Muhammed.
The statement released by HuJ today:
"We confirm that our emir [leader] and commander in chief, Mohammad Ilyas Kashmiri, along with other companions, was martyred in an American drone strike on June 3, 2011, at 11:15 p.m.," Abu Hanzla Kashir, who identified himself as a spokesman for Kashmiri's Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami group, said in a statement faxed to a Pakistani television station.
"God willing ... America will very soon see our full revenge," it added. "Our only target is America."
The Pakistani tribal groups can't be happy if Pakistan helped the U.S. in the drone attack that killed its members along with Kashmiri.
Others are now confirming Kashmiri was killed in the drone strike, including a leader of Mullah Nazir.
