"Following the firm orders from the head of the judiciary for a speedy probe into the case of Sattar Beheshti's death, three of the officials in charge of the prisoner's interrogation have been arrested and handed over to the armed forces court," the report indicates.
Today (same link), Parliament's National Security Commission said preliminary information "indicates there was no sign of torture on the dead prisoner's body."
Beheshti's blog was called "My Life for My Iran" and he reportedly wrote posts critical of the Iranian government.
Amnesty International has this report.
Sources say when Behesti was placed into Evin Prison after his interrogation, his wrists showed signs of "chicken."
Under this form of torture, said to be used by Iran’s police, the hands of the accused are tied and he is hanged from the ceiling like a chicken.
Here is Behesti's last blog post.
The State Department is also calling for an investigation.
We extend condolences to Beheshti's family in their time of grief, as well as to the families of all Iranians who have been falsely accused, illegally detained, or wrongly killed at the hands of a brutal and hypocritical regime. Sattar Beheshti is just one of thousands of victims of the Iranian government's campaign of violent repression and efforts to curtail basic freedoms at all costs. We will continue to stand with the Iranian people and condemn the abuses against Beheshti and countless others.
