    ...or nominated?

Does the Senate get to vote on the appointment?

    Blech. Kerry's monotonous pontificating (5.00 / 2) (#2)

After the stellar secretaryship of Mrs. Clinton, Kerry is a decidedly lackluster choice.  I do wish President Obama had gone to the mat for Ambassador Rice, a much more inspiring pick.

Rice was targeted because the Republicans wanted Kerry appointed, so that Scott Brown could get another bite at the apple.

The worst choice possible, Kerry will cause a lot of damage.

Obama has a strong tendency to select the worst candidates for the most important jobs. Hillary headed State only because Obama couldn't make her take anything else.

    why would she? (5.00 / 2) (#10)

she didn't want to take that job either. I am sure he appealed to her sense of duty.  Luckily for us she took it since she has been one of the bright spots in his administration.  The world loves her and so does the country. Didn't you get the memo?
This consulate security deal isn't going to stick to her.  She was not in charge of security and yet she stepped up, ordered the investigation, took the recommendations and said basically "the buck stops here". I know it drives the Hillary haters on the right and the left crazy, but she is the very definition of strength and competence. <smile>

makes me feel that Obama wants to give the GOP every possible break.

    Not happy at all.

    Obama owes Kerry (none / 0) (#9)

from 2008.  He can't avoid paying him back forever.  I am pretty confident that a democrat can win that seat as long as they allow the right democrat to run.

    right.

Since the election it should be plain for even the most disengaged to recognize the perfidious nature of the Republican Party.  Still, there have been so many events in the past decade plus that should have sunk in but haven't.
