Wikileaks Publishes 5 Million Stratfor Emails

Here's Wikileak's announcement about its publication of more than 5 million Strator e-mails. The e-mails were obtained in December by activists associated with Anonymous.

The emails date from between July 2004 and late December 2011. They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal’s Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defense Intelligence Agency. The emails show Stratfor’s web of informers, pay-off structure, payment-laundering techniques and psychological methods...

Wikileaks says the emails "contain privileged information about the US government’s attacks against Julian Assange and WikiLeaks and Stratfor’s own attempts to subvert WikiLeaks." [More...]

Wikileaks has partnered with 25 media organizations to analyze the material, a process that will occur over the next several weeks.

You can read the emails published so far here.

Didn't Kurt Vonnegut say something to the effect that if there were angels that he wished they were organized like the Mafia?

Well, Wikileaks does try hard (none / 0) (#3)

but organizing them along the lines of the Mafia would just be inviting more government repression of them.

    group every Libetarian should love.
There's a bit of Van Vogt's 'weapon shops of isher" in their method, IMO.

The founder is a man who wrote a book around 1990 in which he predicted a hot war between Japan and the US. THIS is the kind of intelligence people pay for?

George Bush had no strategic alternative to invading Iraq either.  That was basically when it occurred to me that their intelligence had a lot of FMA (from my a$$) critical thinking behind it.  I think they said a lot of stuff about Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden not being an issue either under Bush, but I could be remembering it incorrectly that they fully backed the Bush administration to "forgetabout" the people who really did attack us.
