It would be much appreciated, especially by those who want to avoid it completely.
I am so over it, and I don't really care, but there is just something about the blind dedication to a cause that fascinates and disgusts me at the same time. I hate it, yet can't stop peeking.
I have managed to stop posting... Parent
Perhaps in addition to the separate Zimmerman forum there should be a meta-Zimmerman forum where people can discuss discussing it or not discussing it. Parent
Namaste. Parent
Just wanted to say thanks for partitioning the posts, it's greatly appreciated.
My husband can never remember Stephen Moore's name from the Wall Street Journal, but mainstream media uses him as a pundit all the time. My husband can only remember him as douche bag glasses. Parent
Fox's evilness is very far-reaching. Parent
I guess the good thing is that these women don't go into a rage - maybe because my mother takes the path of least resistance and just waits for the conversation to change - they just will sweetly tell you that, "Oh, Fox News is really the only place to find out what's really going on..."
Mom says, "well, I really have to bite my tongue on that one and whatever follows - it's the only thing that keeps me from just barking out a laugh!" Parent
I always wonder if this is how it was leading up to the Civil War, friends/family pitted against each other and how corrosive it is for people who IMO all want the same things in life, the basic American Dream. Parent
I did make more headway with arguments against the banking power elite. Maybe cuz there is some common cause with the original Tea Party ideas before they got bought by Dick Armey.
It really upsets me to argue with friends about politics. I guess I don't like to disagree about so much with people I love. I never bring up the topic, but I won't sit quietly when they start up. Parent
You ignore the part of your brain that tells you it's not real, that it's like a Potemkin village, but on stage.
Well, nowadays being a Republican requires a willing suspension of sanity. Parent
Can't get over how much he looks like Timothy Olyphant, and the flight-suit. A precursor to parachute pants ?
Can't say that I knew this kind music existed before MTV, or rather the summer after 6th grade when my friend got it. Video changed my prepubescent life. And early Sting was always a blondie in my book... who knew. Parent
"No decision has been made. An announcement could happen any time between now and the convention, but it will only happen after a decision has been made and no decision has been made," said Romney campaign senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom.
I seek a Presidential candidate in a quantum state who can announce his veep choice before he's decided who that will be.
Have fun, keep it PG-13! ;)
Wonder if there is an extra fee for that kinda carry-on. Parent
Very interesting interview of a thoughtful, well-spoken woman.
Did none of the men in the Vatican attend Catholic school in the U.S.A.?
In other circumstances I might feel sorry for someone who decided to take on the sisters. Since the fools in this are the grand poohbahs of the Vatican, I have no sympathy for them. I await their comeuppance.
Go, sisters! Parent

A recent Treasury Department report of misconduct by a banking regulator is giving watchdogs some ammunition to argue that financial regulators are too cozy with the banks they are tasked with overseeing. The report, part of a small batch just released by the department's inspector-general, says that a government employee in Florida who served as a bank examiner accepted "gratuities (golf fees and/or food) on at least four occasions" from a bank he was reviewing. The report, conducted in 2010, called the situation a "conflict of interest" for the employee, who worked at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

In one case, an employee was found to have used his work computer to solicit prostitutes via the online classified site Craigslist and arrange trysts on three occasions. In another, an employee was found to have emailed internal information about Treasury contracting to her husband, who worked for a contractor. The rest involved disorderly conduct at a stadium; running up a $240 FedEx bill on the government's dime; and banking with a bank that was also regulated by the agency.
Do these people not learn?
