"Apologizing" For Terry Jones

Who said this?

[We] reject the reported message of the movie. There is no room for religious hatred or intolerance.

Compare that to this:

[We] condemn[] the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims—as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions.

Sounds similar no? The difference? Mitt Romney's campaign is circulating the former talking points AFTER the news of the death of the US Ambassador to Libya. The latter was issued by the US embassy in Cairo before the unrest faced the embassy. So who did the "apologizing?" My timeline says Mitt "No Apologies" Romney.

to the Cairo Embassy's statement condemning efforts that may hurt the religious feelings of believers of all religions, he will not be offended by my suggestion that his chronic lying is   derived from the Mormon  "Lying for the Lord".     And, Ryan, although not an atheist like Ayn Rand, seems to subscribe to Rand's "Noble Lie."    The Randian philosophy and the Mormon belief merge in a common understanding that the end justifies the means and serves as  the linchpin of their sad campaign.

    False comparison, but nice try. (2.00 / 1) (#17)

The Romney talking points, as you linked to, specifically detail the apology that the campaign does not agree with. Remember, context matters.

    From your link:

Don't you think it was appropriate for the embassy to condemn the controversial movie in question? Are you standing up for movies like this?

    • Governor Romney rejects the reported message of the movie. There is no room for religious hatred or intolerance.

    • But we will not apologize for our constitutional right to freedom of speech.

No one was apologizing for "our constitutional right to freedom of speech".  Romney's talking point is ridiculous.  Romney's response after the attack was an attempt by his campaign to feed the meme of Obama/Democrats as apologists:

"I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It's disgraceful that the Obama administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks."

In fact, the statement to which Romney was referring was a statement by the embassy in Egypt made prior to the attacks and it was not "sympathizing with those who waged the attacks".  The embassy statement was to make clear that the US govt. did not agree with the Islamaphobic film and promotes religious tolerance of all religions.

Some yakkers out there talking about the two embassies being an organized terrorist attack.  It seemed a little disturbing yesterday that someone might have leaked troop movements to Fox.  They talked about the Marines coming in but reported where they were coming in from.

With...sad.  Hardly think the administration leaked to Fox.  Probably some neocon in thd Pentagon.  Course thats Obamas fault too, trying to be bipartisan.  When he is re-elected he should just fire all of you.  Or you could all stop being traitorous dicks.  I wish Obama liked firing people as much as Romney does.

Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic is sort of reputable and here is his start of a conspiracy theory about the movie maker.

you need to be a conspiracy theorist to want to know the provenance of this film.  My guess is that there is an intense investigation of this matter.
