The latest in the explosives bust of the rich heroin users in Greenwich Village a few weeks ago: Police say Aaron Greene planned to blow up the Washington Square arch.
This is such an odd story. [More...]
Greene made some admissions after his arrest and said he had stored some weapons with a member of law enforcement:
Police also searched the home of Greene’s friend in Orangeburg, N.Y., and found 21 guns, brass knuckles, two stun guns and a switchblade knife. Browne said police went there after Greene said he had given some of his weapons to the man.
Greene's friend is a suspended prison guard -- he was suspended in 2010 for possession of cocaine and fleeing a police vehicle.
Greene's girlfriend, Morgan Gliedman, went into labor when being arrested. The baby was drug-free -- she stopped using when she learned she was pregnant. The Court has granted her bail with conditions she get drug treatment and wear an ankle monitor. She entered a 30 day rehab following the hearing.
The newborn, named Melody Sunshine, is now being cared for by Gliedman's mother, Susyn Schops Gliedman, a broker, and father, Dr. Paul Gliedman, head of radiation oncology at Beth Israel Brooklyn.
Gliedman is on probation for drug possession following a February 2012 bust. Greene was sentenced to five months in the case. She also has a pending felony grand larceny/credit card theft case.
(Correction: Greene did not go to Harvard. The New York Post appears to be the originator of this mis-reporting, which was picked up by numerous other media organizations.)On February 17, Gliedman met a man at Johnny's Bar in the Village and went to his Midtown apartment where she allegedly took off with a backpack containing his laptop, cellphone, wallet and credit cards, which she used to make purchases. Five days after the robbery, on February 22, she and her
Harvard-graduateboyfriend, Greene, were arrested for possession drugs and found with a .223-caliber rifle. The couple were spotted with another woman in a car and Greene was seen injecting heroin while one of the women snorted the drug, a criminal complaint said.
More on the robbery case here.
Police also say they found neo-nazi writings at the residence.
Greene signed another correspondence with the Nazi SS lightning bolts, and scribbled "kill" and "kill them all" dozens of times on a paper, sources said.
In 2005, Greene was sentenced to 8 months for stabbing a bouncer at a club. From Rikers, he reportedly told the New York Post he's just a sportsman.
No drugs were found in the apartment in the explosives search. Cops initially thought they were just rich junkies posturing, and that only Greene was involved with the explosives and weapons. It still appears Gliedman was not involved with the weapons and explosives, but she's charged anyway.
A neighbor says of Greene and his parents: "They were a lovely, lovely family." How did NYPD latch on to the couple for the latest search? Not through the success of their electronic surveillance programs. It was a garden variety snitch who had been invited into their apartment to take a shower.
