Israel Airstrikes in Syria

Israel has not yet officially confirmed the news, but everyone else, from the BBC to Al Jazeera to the New York Times, is reporting that Israel launched an airstrike in Syria. An Israeli spokesman says:

“Israel is determined to prevent the transfer of chemical weapons or other game-changing weaponry by the Syrian regime to terrorists, specially to Hezbollah in Lebanon.”

U.S. officials on the other hand say:

US officials say the Israeli air strike happened overnight Thursday into Friday, but the aircraft did not enter Syrian airspace. [More...]

Syria's news site is not talking about Israel right now, but its "success" in killing "scores of terrorists" affiliated with "Jabhat al-Nusra" and other terrorist groups.

I hope Obama isn't seriously thinking about putting "boots on the ground" in Syria. The boots in Afghanistan aren't even home yet. All those boot-wearers should just click their heels three times and close their eyes like Dorothy, and say, "I'm going home (or staying home), whichever the case may be.

As for opinion on Israel's strike, I almost always support Israel. But I haven't been following this closely, so I didn't give one.

How stupid can the Israeli government get here?  They're doing something that's rather risky not only to their own security, but they could further destablize Syria, making an even bigger mess.  Let's hope the US government isn't stupid enough to intervene, because we'll make it even worse yet, if we do, plus we have no business meddling in other countries' affairs.

Israeli spokesman referred to "game-changing weaponry," invoking Obama's use of "game-changer" when it was revealed/confirmed that Syria had used chemical weapons.

Whatever this is that's going on, I don't like it; I really wish I could trust what we're being told, but I don't.

Game Changer beer will be available at Buffalo Wild Wings starting in July. I doubt there will be a threat of war over a new beer though.
