Mr. President, the answer is 'No.'

Mr. President, there has been a whole lot of strange and wacky stuff going on. Heck, it looks like your attempt to imitate "W" Bush in foreign policy, except you added steroids. That's only one part of it. Now, one question: Have you lost your mind?

More below the fold.

Please elucidate which, if any, US interests can be served in your proposed military action in Syria. Anything? Are the pilots getting out of practice?

I thought the Marines and the Army and all of the other forces fought enough in Afghanistan to stay in practice. Hell, pres, I'm not even gonna mention the tens of thousands that fought in Iraq. Yes, the ones you said would be removed, except the ones who would not be removed... I remember the video of trucks in Kuwait, the disaster of no SOFA, and how you came out smelling like a rose.

I also remember the stench of death.

Iraq was Passchendaele with civilians. Afgnanistan now resembles the end of French Algeria more than Vietnam.

Mr. President, the people suggesting you attack or invade Syria are not your friends. They do not have any coherent political agenda. These are the same folks who said, "don't do anything in Libya, but send drone strikes to kill US citizens in Yemen without trial, presentation of evidence, or anything else."

I know, Mr. President, you are a man of peace. After all, you were awarded the Nobel Prize for peace. Congratulations.

But it is sad that your definition of peace doesn't match the dictionary definition, nor mine.

your definition of peace matches the description written by Tacitus of Agricola : "They make a desert and call it peace."

Stay out of Syria. Listen to Hans Blix.

Bring 'em home. Do something that's not warlike nor authoritarian, Mr. President. Buy some poor people lunch, or create some damn jobs.

After a point, even a warlord like you should become sated.

Great to see this!  Good health to you, my man.

    It isn't that I'm not disturbed by (5.00 / 3) (#3)

the use of chemical weapons, it's more that I don't know why we ho-hummed about the 100,000 Syrians estimated to have died in the civil war from injuries inflicted by conventional weapons; why weren't we appalled by this - why no red line until chemical weapons made an appearance?

I am greatly disturbed by the language of the resolution the Congress is set to vote on: it's too broad, and my fear and suspicion is that we're using the chemical weapons issue to give too much war-making power to the president.

I feel for the people of Syria, I do, but I don't see anything good coming from this.
