World Cup -Day 2

3 matches on tap today, starting at noon continuing till 8 pm. Here are my picks : Cameroon (PICK +160) over El Tri (Mexico), Mexico is cpaable of losing to anyone. I think they are 3 and out at this World Cup.

Spain (-130) over Netherlands. Spain is my favorite. I think they repeat.

Chile (-1 -120) over Australia. Chile is very good. Australia is not. Really like this one.

My group picks are: Group A - Brazil, Group B- Spain, Group C- Colombia, Group D -Uruguay, Group E - Ecuador, Group F - Argentina, Group G -Germany, Group H - Belgium. As you can see, I'm big on home continent advantage.

Had to win this match and they TCB.

They looked pretty good.  Great defending, lots of chances.

I don't think you can discount how miserable the conditions were.   Lot of balls slipped by guys etc..

Mexico was clearly the better team and they finally scored a goal.

    Viva la Kdog!

USA first and foremost...continental pride second.

Yes sir...it was a must win.  Keep it close against Brazil and beat or tie Croatia and they should be in like Flynn.

Much like the US path...must beat Ghana, tie Portugal, and keep it close against Germany.  But that's a lot more to ask for.

Norte Americano pride man?  Mexico will find a way today to break out of their two year funk...predict a 3-2 win in a wild wooly affair, Peralta shall find mad net and a fat European contract before this Cup is up.

Sh*t need Mexico to come out of the group stage to have somebody to root for if the US can't shock the world.

The Netherlands has wiped the stadium turf with Spain, winning in shockingly easy fashion, 5-1. So if the Spanish team is indeed considered a favorite to repeat as World Cup champions, well, you'd might be tempted to seriously reconsider that assessment after watching today's collective face-plant.

I'm now wondering why the Dutch weren't really on anyone's radar as serious contenders, despite having been the 2010 WC runners-up. That, too, calls for some serious reassessment after this blowout.

If I recall correctly, Spain lost a first-round game four years ago, and yet still went on to win it all, so there's more than ample time to regroup and qualify for the second round.

But either today serves as its wake-up call, or they'll go the way of the French in 2010 and be gone in two weeks' time.

    Aloha.
