Bump and Update: Thanks to everyone who has made a donation to TalkLeft this week. If you haven't yet, and you value the site and the time and effort that goes into it, I'd really appreciate your contribution, in any amount you can afford. After 12 years of daily blogging, I know it's easy to take us for granted, and just assume we'll be continue to be here day after day, but without support, that's unlikely to be the case. Costs are rising and I do not intend to resort to advertising or a paywall. I'll be taking this down Sunday evening, so please give it some thought. And thanks again to those of you who have already donated. I will send individual thank you notes soon. (Original Post below.)

Usually I ask for donations twice a year. But with all the time I've spent blogging this summer, and with a lot of renewal bills coming in for premium services TalkLeft subscribes to, on top of the usual costs, I'm adding a third one.

If you appreciate the time and effort that goes into my research and writing, or even if you just like to read the comments, I'd sincerely appreciate a contribution of whatever amount you are comfortable with donating. All amounts, even a few dollars, are welcome.

You can use Paypal, which also takes credit cards, even if you don't have an account. If you hate Paypal, you can also use snail mail.

Thanks to all. And in case I haven't mentioned it before, for those of you who prefer to get your news via Twitter, there is a Twitter feed of just TalkLeft posts with links to the last 5,000 of them.

I sent $$$ snail mail so I wouldn't be updated on yet another website. But I think they're already on to me and I'm not even doing anything bad...finally.
