Sweden's Largest Neo-Nazi Group Holds Parade to Celebrate Trump

Sweden’s neo-Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR) held its largest march ever on Saturday, celebrating the election of Donald Trump, which it calls the start of a world revolution. The NMR has been promoting "an openly racist and anti-Semitic doctrine" since 1997.

Per Öberg, the Nazi group’s press chief, told the gathered crowd that Donald Trump’s election was a sign that a world revolution was beginning.

Also speaking was Vera Oredsson, a lifelong Nazi who was a member of the Hitler youth as a child growing up in Nazi Germany, and Fredrik Vejdeland, the group’s head of strategy.

More than 600 participated (despite being the snowiest Movember day in Stockholm in 111 years. [More...])

A Swedish advertising company named Round and Round ran a campaign, The Great Trump Escape, before the election, offering advertising jobs to Americans who wanted to flee in the event Trump won. The company says response has been huge -- more than 350 people applied.

They don't have any Americans working for the company as of now, but they say:

But we get in touch with and we have our fair share of relations with Americans, and we’re citizens of the world. We can’t not be concerned over what’s happening.”

The company made clear it wasn't hoping for a Trump win. The last line of the website campaign said:

“Honestly, we really hope it won’t come down to all that. Get your sh*t together, America”.

Unfortunately, Americans didn't get their sh*t together. The NMR would feel right at home in Silver Spring, Maryland .

would translate into 18 K in this country adjusting for population, sounds largish to me. The far right and neo nazi movements are growing all across Europe by all accounts, and alas in this country now. Too deny it is to enable it, to enable it is to own it.

it is about the same size as Sweden...10M....based on your logic then we should have had 12,000 murders...but we only had about 85000.

So your comparison produces an answer that is about 36% high.

This sudden fear of Nazis in the US is amusing when it comes from people supporting demonstrations, sometimes violent, when they were the ones accusing Trump.

I don't know about you but my "fear" of Nazis is in no way "sudden".

I have always felt that the fringes on both sides were identical. And the demonstrations, some violent, prove me correct.

Are you now ready to join me in condemning them?

And my math is spot on. The US is about 30 times the size of Sweden - 300 to 10 - and about the same to Chicago so according to your thinking 400 Chicago murders should yield 12,000. The FBI numbers are about 8500... 3500 short.. you need about 36% more to reach 12000.

To use an expression neocons and Bush-lickers used to beat to death, you're making "moral equivalences" where none exist.

Also, it still remains to seen how many of the one's acting out are provocateurs of the slimy, underhanded, James O'Keefe stripe; which is a very distinct possibility, given the right's tradition of dirty tricks.

they are bullies that beat up gay men in stockholm. it's like being suprised that there is a Hell Angels gang in sweden and then acting like that's significant or representative.
