Opening the Door to Giuliani and Gingrich

Leaders of several progressive groups, who had been courting Clinton as a potential ally on many of their causes, have expressed anger in the aftermath of the election, arguing that the result was a repudiation of a campaign driven by the Democratic establishment.

"The Democratic establishment had their chance with this election," said Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. "It's time for new leadership of the Democratic Party -- younger, more diverse and more ideological -- that is hungry to do things differently, like leading a movement instead of dragging people to the polls.

I'm close to 75 years old and not on social media, but have two newspaper subscriptions and read news on line most early mornings when it is difficult to sleep.  I also have ALWAYS watched the evening news, switching to find best and relevant newscasters and news reports. I feel now that what I watched was not good reporting, but followed a script for money interests and ratings.  I won't turn it off completely, preferring public radio, Democracy Now and BBC,but will spend time, (at this age---limited) watching and reading from afar.  I have definitely deleted apps HuffPo, CNN and MSNBC.  NEVER watched Fox.

I just listened to HRC concession speech wanting what is best for our country and will work hard to fulfill/restore much of the American dream, but will she be able to from jail? 😞

good, I'd much rather have those guys governing than having Trump govern. I cannot even envision what the polities will be or where the country will be heading under Trump.

it still seems impossible that Trump could built a big enough group, and even come close to getting nominated or winning the election. It's hard to believe there are so many people in the country who would support a person like that. Can't wait to look more closely at the demographic analysis, and what seemed to motivate those groups.

I was wondering if the polls, or most of them, could be missing a significant segment of more silent supporters (or maybe they weren't silent)--because Trump and his candidacy seemed like such a different animal to me. My college son, who follow politics closely and goes to school in the South, told me several days ago that he believed Trump would win. Of course, I didn't believe him.

Hillary proved to be a shockingly bad candidate, in my view. Her time was 8 years ago. I voted for her, but her lack of honesty and the murkiness of the foundation and how she and Bill have seemed to operate really grew to bug me.

My wife and I had signs for 5 candidates in our yard. 2 Dems, 1 Repub, and 2 judges. We were 0-5.

That's not why she lost. She was honest, there's no evidence she was not. The Clinton Foundation has done wonderful things for the world.

You need to revieew your Gingrich and Giuliani history. Trump is ignorant, they will be leading him around by the nose.

on Hillary as a candidate, but that's okay. I talked during the campaign to a couple former senior leaders in the Dem party and big supporters of the prior presidential candidates, and they agreed with me. And again, I have more confidence in those two than I do in Trump, so I'm fine if he follows them. In my view, Trump would likely be far worse, more unpredictable, and more dangerous than those two.
