President Obama is in Vietnam. He visited Ho Chi Minh's house. And he ended the arms embargo so weapons can now be sold to Vietnam.

What a pleasure to read Vietnam newspapers -- the ones I've seen don't have autoplay video. Here are some photos of the welcoming ceremony.

I'm sorry I haven't visited Vietnam. Here are ten reasons you really should go.

    BTW, the English paper is published by the Communist national government.

    A beautiful, interesting country. Do it.

    Noodle dishes if it is black bean or soy based sauce. He survived on any Veal based brat we could find in Germany, they all passed inspection with him and thankfully were plentiful and delicious at all the Christmas markets. He almost starved in Poland though.

    avian flu, chicken wasn't served in the hotels in the north. But it was in the south.

    Noodle dishes. Going to Vietnam while in Korea is a very affordable possibility for military fams. I'll have to investigate food options for Josh a bit though where we visit in Vietnam. Korea has a lot of Americanized food options available, even Pizza Hut and McDonald's though there were significant menu changes. Still American enough for Josh.

    He continues to love watching Anthony Bourdain, but only loves the idea of eating like Anthony Bourdain.

    ... a pilgrimage for us since my father lost his life in Saigon, now Ho Chi Minh City, during the early stages of our country's military involvement in Vietnam, before the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.

    The two places that impressed my the most were Hue, the former imperial capital, and Dien Bien Phu, site of one of the most consequential battles of the 20th century where French dreams of reestablishing their empire in Indochina were vanquished in the spring of 1954.

    I'd recommend the trip to anybody.

    We didn't have time for the side trip to Cambodia when we were in Vietnam. The Spouse would like to go to Thailand, so we'll include Angkor Wat on that trip.
