Obama Family's Future Home in DC

President Obama and his family have picked a house to rent in D.C. after he leaves the White House. (They aren't going back to Chicago right away because daughter Sasha is still in high school.)

Check out the stunning photos of the home, which has more than 8,000 square feet (9 bedrooms.) The house belongs to former Clinton press spokesman Joe Lockhart who is now living in New York.

I am happy for them.  I bet they cannot wait to get back to their lives (as much as they can...  their lives will forever be changed).  I will miss Obama and I am pleased with his accomplishments as  POTUS.

very grey.  My preference in monochromatic decor is beige and white, or all white with different textures. Gray is sort of in, these days, but it works better, from my perspective, in contemporary or mid-Century modern.  Classic homes such as this one, can come across as rather cold in gray, although the photos do not support this general observation. As indicated previously, a colorfully striking abstract painting may liven things up, without diminishing the monochromatic look they were going for.

But, where is the brush needing to be cleared, and the firewood to be cut & stacked? D.C. gets pretty darned cold in the winter.

Beautiful. Seems like their style too (none / 0) (#5)

Actually the outside of it reminds me of the one they owned in Chicago, only bigger.

I bet they will love getting into someplace more homelike again.

in a great neighborhood in D.C.  Glad that the Obama's found a house to lease that meets their criteria.  I like the neutral decor of the house, which is fine as is, or can benefit from splashes of color if desired, particularly from an interesting abstract.  And, there is lots of room for the Obama's to bring their books. The ceilings seem low for a newer house, unless it is an older home that has recently been fully renovated.  Certainly, extend every good wish and happiness.

This definitely looks like an older house to me! (none / 0) (#7)
