The Tony Awards

James Corden nails the Tony's. What a great opening. He brings such energy, positivity and glee to everything he does. I think he's so great.

This is a Tony's thread, I'll put up an open thread soon.

    Oscars, but with diversity," Mr Corden said at the start of the show."  And, he added, "it is so diverse that Donald Trump has threatened to build a wall around this theater."

    I have never watched them before, but last night, my husband and I watched them and were thoroughly entertained.  What amazing performances by all.  So much better than the Academy Awards...

    I was pleased with the Tony show. All of the awards they won were well deserved, and Lin-Manuel Miranda is a true national treasure. I loved that he was so pleased to see Leslie Odom Jr. win the acting award, since Miranda himself already gets plenty of awards and acclaim. Just wished they had performed the song It's Quiet Uptown, which is so beautiful and, since it is about parents grieving the loss of their son to senseless violence, would have been perfect for the day. But I get that they had something picked and rehearsed - though they did leave out the muskets.

    I enjoyed Corden...he is a little puppyish though....

    But, just read a sonnet that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote.
    An excerpt...

    When senseless acts of tragedy remind us
    That nothing here is promised, not one day.
    This show is proof that history remembers
    We lived through times when hate and fear seemed stronger;
    We rise and fall and light from dying embers, remembrances that hope and love last longer
    And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside.
