ISIS Releases Video Praising Orlando Attacks

ISIS has released a multi-national video on the Orlando killings through its Media Office of Wilayat Furat. (Link is to news article, not video.) The video is called "You Are Not Held Responsible Except for Yourself." It features multiple fighters as speakers, including an American, a Frenchman, an Uzbeki and an Indonesian. The American, Abu Ism'ail al-Amriki says ISIS will take revenge for every brother and sister killed by the Crusaders. There is a photo of Omar Mateen, video of the aftermath of his rampage, and praise for his actions.

“Do you think you’re at war with a small group of Mujahedeen in Iraq, Syria, Libya and other places? You are sadly mistaken. And do you think you can defeat us by bombarding our homes with the help of your drones and F-16s [and government groups]? Then again, you have sadly made a great mistake,” Al-Amriki says. “Oh America, indeed you are at war with all the true and sincere Muslims around the world.”

The French speaker appears to highlight this killer of a French police officer.

Not surprisingly, ISIS is milking Mateen, glorifying him even though it's most unlikely he had any connection to ISIS before his killing spree. The point being that the media should be more careful when reporting on lone wolf terror acts to avoid handing ISIS a windfall. [More..]

Now, in the aftermath of the massacre in Orlando, the world faces a similar situation. The picture emerging of Mateen is of a young, confused man with a flimsy understanding of his own motivations. In addition to expressing support for ISIS to a 911 operator, he reeled off a list of influences that had nothing to do with the Islamic State, namedropping, among others, the Tsarnaev brothers, who conducted the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, and Moner Mohammad Abu Salha, the American that blew himself up in Syria in 2014 as a member of Jabhat al-Nusra, a group ISIS recently referred to as a “criminal gang.” And, instead of pledging “allegiance” to the ISIS caliph on Facebook, he announced his “alliance to abu bakr al-Baghdadi,” using all the wrong honorifics. His ideological incoherence went beyond confused salafi-jihadism, which is a distinctly Sunni phenomenon. Indeed, just three years ago, he claimed to coworkers that he was a member of the Shia extremist group Hezbollah. This is not the behavior of an ISIS ideologue.

He was just another mass shooter.

Wilayat Khurasan also released a video today, "You Won't Dream of Being Secure." In related news, Pieter Van Ostaeyen explains why Belgian has so many ISIS fighters in the new edition of the CTC Sentinel (West Point's Combating Terrorism Center.)

The concealed carry law (none / 0) (#7)
by Abdul Abulbul Amir on Mon Jun 20, 2016 at 08:09:49 AM EST
in Minnesota makes a lot of sense. Yes, you can carry in a place that serves alcohol.  However, if you carry your blood alcohol must be below 0.04%.

How has it worked out?  Gunfights in bars, no.  Applebee's as the OK corral, no.

Whatever you think of patrons of bars carrying, there seems to be no legit reason to prohibit the non drinking staff.

A breathalyzer test every 30 mins at the bar, and if their blood alcohol exceeds the limit...then who takes the gun?

I tended bar a lot in my early 20's and never had access to a gun. Never wanted it either. Once the entire bar split down the middle and began to brawl. I hollered for everyone to knock it off in my scariest voice. From within the swarm and swinging fists someone shouted,"Shutup B*tch!"

I dialed 911, crawled under the bar sink, and nobody died.

Usually it's the designated driver that carries in a group. Likewise the non-drinking employees of the place sometimes carry as well.

You may be unaware, but not everyone that goes into Applebee's is going to have a drink.

Literally a blast. We all know how fun it is getting someone intoxicated to give you their keys. It'll be great fun when it's now keys and gun.

I'm not working that negotiation. Throwing down the bar towel, "I quit!" This is all just nuts now.

Where Trump said anything about them getting hammered.

Do you have a link or did you make that part up?

People go to bars with keys to giant metal death machines that kill more people than guns.

Responsible people don't drink amd drive or drink and shoot.

Do you propose we ban all designated drivers from bars too?

with their irresponsible unbending extremism and paranoia is planting the seeds of their own eventual marginalization.

Unfortunately it'll take a few more horrific mass shootings before a national rein-in-the-yokels mass  movement gathers significant momentum, but it'll happen eventually.

And at that point, the Lapierres, Larry Pratts and Ted Nugents of the world will no one to blame but themselves -- not that they've ever shown any signs of being capable of self-reflection.

That not a single mention of gays was made by the islamic terrorist during his attack.

He made multiple mentions of isis, islam amd revenge for bombing  "his country" before and during his attack but not a single anti-gay word or social media post.

What more proof do you need that his primary goal was islamic terrorism in the name of islam/isis?

He is no more a lone wolf than palestinian individuals commiting islamic terrorist knife attacks in reponse to the call for the knife intifada by muslim leaders.
