Manned Russian Helicopter Shot Down in Aleppo, 5 Dead

Russia has announced that a helicopter carrying five people (2 officers and 3 crew members) was shot down in Aleppo today. It was returning from a "humanitarian" mission.

On August 1, the Russian military transport helicopter Mi-8 was downed by ground fire on the way to the ‪#‎Hmeymim‬ airbase after delivery of humanitarian aid to the Aleppo city in the ‪#‎Idlib‬ province. There were 3 crew members and 2 officers of the Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria. The fate of the Russian servicemen is being found out.

General Sergey Rudskoy, chief of the main operations department of the Russian General Staff, blames "the Nusra Front" and the "moderate opposition."

“The helicopter was hit from the ground in an area under control of the armed units of Al-Nusra Front terrorist group and the troops of the so-called ‘moderate opposition’ who joined them,” said.

Photos of a dead male, reportedly pilot Shelamov Oleg Yurievich from Torzhok (according to his identification card) and a blond male are already on Twitter. So is a video of locals stomping on the back of the dead pilot and photos of both men lying face down, with one leg and their buttocks exposed. There is also a photo of a driver's license for a blond female.

how to distingush a military cargo helicopter from a combat helicopter but wouldn't any helicopter transporting cargo into a war zone have guns?

i'm not watching the video. i've already seen videos of the usa-backed "good guys" chanting alahu akbar and killing people.

All helicopters in war zones are armed except Medivac....all of them. Even the UN Jeralyn. And the Medivac units fight to stay unarmed, they believe it discourages the enemy from firing on them. That really hasn't been the case though since I have been exposed to any of this business. We send two Apache escorts with our unarmed Medivac as often as we can. The Apaches don't normally land, just the Medivac. Medivac pilots remain the bravest pilots in the world.
