Don Jr. in the Soup Again

Via the New Yorker, Donald Trump. Jr. is in the soup again, this time over his contacts with Wikileaks. And according to the New Yorker, Mike Pence has been taken for a ride again, or else he's lying.

I wish Trump Sr. would stay in Asia. Unfortunately, he's returning home to make more of a mess for our country.

    "he's lying"

If he's not lying (and I'm inclined to think (none / 0) (#2)

that he is), then he is truly one of the least intelligent people in the administration - and given how Eric and Don, Jr, already lower the collective IQ to "dim" level, that wold really be saying something.

    From The Atlantic:

According to a source familiar with the congressional investigations into Russian interference with the 2016 campaign, who requested anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, on the same day that Trump Jr. received the first message from WikiLeaks, he emailed other senior officials with the Trump campaign, including Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Brad Parscale, and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, telling them WikiLeaks had made contact. Kushner then forwarded the email to campaign communications staffer Hope Hicks.

And i think if you do a little looking around, you will find that Mike Pence claims to never know anything about anything, ever.

    It's not believable.

i'm only guessing of course. but with the nepotism of this administration i imagine an in-group of family members and like-minded cohorts with mike pence being kept out.

when information, such as this from Anne -- and many news outlets today -- is widely available that contradicts your imaging?

agree, I don't think he was part of that particular loop, especially during the campaign. Maybe he was willfully ignorant or maybe Manafort chose him for his cluelessness, in any case he appears to have enough plausible deniability in this particular thread.

However after the election when he became head of the transition, just about all of the deniability goes away. Both Flynn and Kushner had high level contacts during Russians during that time. He was warned in writing about Flynn, he was responsible for vetting everyone.

    curious coincidence
On the evening of September 20, 2016, WikiLeaks sent a direct message on Twitter to Trump Jr.: "A PAC run anti-Trump site putintrump.org is about to launch. The PAC is a recycled pro-Iraq war PAC. We have guessed the password. It is `putintrump.' See `About' for who is behind it. Any comments?"

"Off the record I don't know who that is, but I'll ask around," Trump Jr. responded about 12 hours later. "Thanks."

    ...
Almost immediately after WikiLeaks messaged Trump Jr., though, it made another move: It tweeted out the password. (The password did not allow anyone access to the back end of the site; it was intended simply to let the press preview the site as it would look the following day, when it went live.)
    ....
Our site was soon hit with a surge of traffic and spam while it was still password-protected and meant to be out of public view--and that was just the beginning. Within hours, people involved with launching the site were doxxed and personally targeted on Twitter, an attack that quickly spread to Reddit and to alt-right and pro-Trump news sites.
I believe this was the first very first msg. Why this particular target? Why did Wikileaks feel it needed to tip off Junior at all? Were they asking for help in the attack?

    of pea-brains in this soup.
Jared Kushner received emails in September 2016 about WikiLeaks and about a "Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite" and forwarded them to another campaign official
Maybe would star calling Kid Kushner the backdoor man. Did he forget about this? Of course he "forgot" about it
committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and ranking member Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Kushner failed to turn over the relevant documents when they asked for them last month.
