Reports That Trump Blames Kushner's Advice for Russia Problems

Several media outlets are reporting that Donald Trump is now blaming Jared Kushner's bad advice for his Russia problems.

Speaking to Steve Bannon on Tuesday, Trump blamed Jared Kushner for his role in decisions, specifically the firings of Mike Flynn and James Comey, that led to Mueller’s appointment, according to a source briefed on the call. When Roger Stone recently told Trump that Kushner was giving him bad political advice, Trump agreed, according to someone familiar with the conversation. “Jared is the worst political adviser in the White House in modern history,” Nunberg said. “I’m only saying publicly what everyone says behind the scenes at Fox News, in conservative media, and the Senate and Congress.” (The White House didn’t respond to a request for comment by deadline.)

that with no experience, Jared would be a good advisor?

Trump.  The thug who boasts that he hires "the best people."

And he ignores a lot of advice.

But again and again, as he did in blaming "the generals" last week, and others the week before, Trump's slogan is "the buck stops somewhere else."

From Tom Sullivan, over at Digby's:

For instance, Dana Milbank reports, take the "best people" the president hired for his administration. Please:

A group called American Oversight had the foresight to make records requests for résumés of those hired by the Trump administration, and the group searched for those who worked on the Trump campaign. Among the "best" Trump hires American Oversight found:

●Sid Bowdidge, assistant to the secretary of energy for energy efficiency and renewable energy. Before working for the Trump campaign, Bowdidge, from 2013 to 2015, was manager of the Meineke Car Care branch in Seabrook, N.H. He previously was service and branch manager for tire shops. I don't know what qualified Bowdidge for his position, but I do know this: He is not going to pay a lot for that muffler. (He had to hit the road, losing his job after it was discovered he had called Muslims "maggots.")

●Victoria Barton, congressional relations for Regions II, V and VI, Department of Housing and Urban Development. Prior to working for the Trump campaign, Barton was an office manager and, between 2013 and 2015, a "bartender/bar manager." The expertise in housing policy possessed by Barton is no doubt invaluable to HUD Secretary Ben Carson, a retired brain surgeon.

A confidential assistant at the Agriculture Department was a cabana boy at the Westchester Country Club from 2009 to 2015. There must have been tremendous, tremendous fawning involved. There are more of the best at the link, if you care to ruin your morning.

They weren't hired for their experience or qualifications, many weren't vetted at all.

    If these are the best?

of chatter about Kushner, Mueller looking into his role in Comey firing.

My hypothetical: Kushner was reportedly one of the fiercest advocates for the firing, and he used the quashing of the investigation as his main selling point to tRump....in writing...in front of credible witnesses.

    Obstruction of justice?

And I think that is probably the least of the crimes Mueller is investigating Kushner for, so maybe he IS ready to indict on that slam dunk.

Kushner has been at the rotten heart of this from the beginning.  I really think it's possible Trump is just a fool and a buffoon who who was used by Kushner as a tool to get to the Russians to solve his very serious money problems.

It's becoming clear Trump is to stupid to have a plan.  Grand or otherwise.  Kushner not so much.

I begin to think Kusner really was the "brains" of the outfit just like Donald wanted us to think.

    I (5.00 / 2) (#19)

disagree, Kushner is way out of his depth, they all are. In any case there is no "heart" to this. It's obvious that the Russians have had some kind of reach into tRump for years, possibly before Kuhsner was even a part of the family

It appears that they have reached into the campaign and probably the administration in multiple ways on multiple levels. Thru the small fish like Page and Papadopoulos, family members Jr and Kushner, politicians like Sessions and operatives like Manafort and lets not forget Flynn.

This was a full court press by the Russians, there was no central actor(at least on this side of the pond),

I do think Kushner is central to the Cambridge/Russian/Campaign nexus, but I see him more as a liaison then a mastermind. I do believe he was probably using his leverage to bail himself out of his financial troubles(as any grifter would) but I see it more as taking advantage of an opportunity rather than creating one.

When all is said and done, I suspect there will be no mastermind on either side. Just some rt-fkrs from Russia meeting up with a bunch of mostly wannabes from tRumps side, and a veritable rodent orgy broke out.

Or don't remember hearing and I'm to comfortable to Google what Kushners involvement was in bringing Manafort into the campaign.  If he played a big role it seems to me the purpose from the beginning might have been Kushners financial problems.  We hear Donalds money has been coming from Russia for years.  Manafort is cozy with rich Russians.  Jared think I'm gonna get me some o that.
