Grammys Tonight with James Corden Hosting

The Grammys' red carpet starts here in 30 minutes. I'm sure it's already streaming online, but as usual, the online websites are so disorganized, cluttered and slow, I'm not bothering. I'll wait to watch the condensed version on live TV.

The Grammy Awards website says there are 59 reasons to watch. I can think of one (besides the musical performances): James Corden is hosting.

Esquire has a new feature profile on James in its March issue, which you can read now here.

This thread is for the Grammys (not an open thread.) [More...]

Update: Loved Blue Ivy's Prince outfit and when she ran up to James Corden as he was filling the Neil Diamond car. Beyonce was great when she sang, I wasn't into all the talking. Adele stopping and restarting her George Michael tribute was really something, she's just incredible. I also really liked Bruno Mars' performance.

the Grammys would be entertainment; not maga-trump dresses and not the show's producer scripting in politics.

Ken Ehrlich, who will be producing the award for the 37th time and is contracted to continue through 2020, promised an awards show packed with music and at least one moment that will comment on the current American political climate. (nbcnews.com)

before commenting. It's been on for 2 hours and there's almost no politics -- it's focusing on artistry and music. The Golden Globes and SAG awards had far more political moments.

... tonight with five Grammys, including best rock song, best rock performance and best alternative rock album. In my opinion, "Blackstar" is one of the finest valedictory works ever produced and its closing track, "I Can't Give Everything Away," provides a most haunting yet touching means for him to take his leave of us. Even at the sunset of his life, David Bowie was at the very top of his game.

Very surprised that Beyonce (none / 0) (#5)

was shutout tonight. Don't get me wrong, I love Adele. I love "25".  But nothing for "Lemonade"?

    Very, very surprised.

    Beyoncé wasn't quite shut out. (none / 0) (#6)

She won for "Best Urban Contemporary Album." But yeah, I was rather surprised as well to see Adele pretty much clean up in all the major categories.

So was Adele, apparently, given her gracious acceptance speech for "Album of the Year," during which she seemed to mildly chastise Academy voters for choosing "25" rather than Beyoncé's "Lemonade," an album which she praised as "monumental" and "beautiful and soul-baring."

    She was right.

"Urban Contemporary"? Who came up with that?

Sort of reminds me of when they used to call records "race records".

I have never paid much attention to her. Her earlier get-up was too odd for me. However, I liked her Super Bowl show and thought her performance with Metallica last night was terrific. She is far more talented that I had realized.

(aka,Chancellor Bennett, the young Chicago rapper), won Best Rap Performance, and Best Pop Album (best performer,as well).  Not an aficionado of rap, but the all streaming of his music was interesting.

    Adele (none / 0) (#12)

Beyonce won six grammys in 2010.  Grammy voters haven't conspired to shut her out.  Maybe Adele this year was the better singer and had the better album.
Adele of course had the politically correct sense to say that she didn't deserve the award, but that's another story...
