Nordstrom Drops Ivanka Trump's Line

Please reward Nordstrom's. They have issued a statement announcing they will no longer carry Ivanka Trump's line. (They say poor sales, but it's big on the Trump boycott list.)

Thank you Nordstrom.

Maybe Ralph Lauren's recently departed CEO should have done the same, instead of sending Melania the powder blue Jackie lookalike outfit. Lauren's stock dropped big following the departure announcement.

I'm not on a computer I can search for the links, just search Google news.

    NM and Nordie's, Belk, Jet, ShopStyle and the Home Shopping Network have stopped selling Trump's cheap, made in China crap.  

    You know things are bad when the Home Shopping Network won't hawk your "fashion".

    knows how i feel.

    to me, it seems petty to boycott retailers of ivanka shoes because you dont like her father's politics. but that's just how i feel. i do believe nordstrom discontinued her shoes because of sales. i looked and didnt find anything i wanted. ivanka doesnt feel to me to be a particularly creative or inspired person. but then, she never had a lemonaid stand as a child (an amused reference to her autobiography).

    She was active in the campaign as a surrogate, adviser and even attended meetings with foreign leaders. One should keep one's sympathies for those are deserve it.

    ... of her father's politics,  but the fact that she's played an active role in his campaign and now his presidency.   She's an enabler.  Boycotting any and all of the Trump businesses is anything but petty.

    BTW - Didn't you previously post a link to shoes of hers that you loved?  You said you didn't like people criticizing her because she was "posh", and - most recently - said you would "die to be Ivanka".

    1.  Chelsea didn't do what Ivanka did.

    2.  I tend to place a higher value on someone's actions, as opposed to giving a lot of weight to a rich girl who wears nice clothes.

    is on the Grab your Wallet list.  They have every size of all models of Levi's, including odd 33" and 35" waist.  My old ones didn't fit, ha, so I needed a couple of pair to go to Aspen by Thursday.  They didn't have any fast shipping place, so I called and they put me into their VIP category  with free overnight shipping forever.  They're not a bargain place, but when you live in the jungle, and go to the mountains, you will be happy to pay.

    about her having Ralph Lauren design her 'inauguration outfit', was that it seemed to be a continuation of Melania Trump's tendency to plagiarize: Ralph Lauren designed -- among many! -- all of Hillary Clinton's 'debate outfits', the red, the blue, the white.

    And I guess it makes me kind of petty bringing up that the white suits on Donald Trump's daughters at the inauguration also rubbed me the wrong way? I mean it's not like any one woman can momopolize wearing white, right ...

    Nordstrom stock closed in a sharp drop to $42.88 on Thursday, after the announcement, but regained a buck and two cents at Friday's close. It has bucked the overall market trend and lost right at $5.00 since 1/4/17 and right at $18.00 since their 3 month high of $61.49 on 12/8/16. I would guess that the market was responding to retail merchandisers poor holiday expectations, not fearing a boycott from the Left.

    Try reading the Seattle Times link. And if you look at the numbers it appears that the market was correct in expecting bad news.

    The interesting thing is that Nordstrom's stock price dropped sharply on Thursday's announcement before climbing back to about where it was. So it appears that the market doesn't see any great impact one way or the other. And I repeat. Nordstrom is not a store supported by folks making $40k or so. So any boycott effect by them will be none to small.

    The real question is this. Given no immediate stock price improvement, why make a move that is guaranteed to be controversial? Most business managers understand "First do no harm."

    Apparently beliefs and principles are only for Sunday-go-to-meetin' time, and every other day is for grabbing as much as you can as quickly as you can.

    Customers can make marketing decisions based on politics also, and anyone aligned with Tr*mp publicly will see business suffer.  Conservatives are all for the free market as long as long as it favors them, but they cry bitter tears when it doesn't.

    You must have missed class that day in grade school when the rest of us learned that the original Tea Party was part of a boycott by the colonies.

    And although Sam Adams and his rebellious boyos got all of the attention, more effective were colonial women's boycotts of not only their beloved tea, which they replacd by creating concoctions from good 'ol American herbs and roots and berries but also their boycotts. of British clothing and similar goods, such as comfy wool and linen, as colonial women did the hard work of hauling out their grandmas' spinning wheels to make cloth and clothing from good ol' scratchy American homespun.  

    So, this rebelious boycott of Actual First Lady Ivanka's clothing line is only the latest in a great American tradition by true patriots, unlike yout treasonous slaves to Trumpian consumerism.

    Or look at it this way: The Revolutionary Era boycotts really were a rebellion against the high taxes on foreign aka British goods.  And according to you Trumpians, it's okay and even all-American to boycott foreign goods -- and to avoid taxes.
