A source told i24NEWS that some Israeli officials have expressed reservations over the choice of Masada for an address by a US President, but added that the site -- an ancient fortress situated atop a 400 meter (1,300 foot) high rock cliff -- seems in line with Trump's grandiose style. Masada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was a palace built by the Judean king Herod the Great. It's last Jewish inhabitants committed mass suicide there in 73 C.E. in order to avoid surrender to the Roman army.
After that, he's going to a NATO meeting in Brussels on May 25 and then the Group of Seven Summit in Sicily on May 26.
He's also going to meet with PLA Chief Mahmoud Abbas. He still believes he and Jared can "start the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians."
An aide says he "intends to invest a lot of time and effort to promote peace."
What a farce.
I've been ignoring Trump as best I can, so I missed that Jared and Ivanka just took another ski trip, this time to Whistler, Canada. Cost to taxpayers for secret service (not including airfare): $65,000. They stayed at the Four Seasons, which was hosting a "Pesach on the Mount" 10 day event.
Via CNN, from the unPrincess' 2009 Book:
"My parents believed that travel was a big part of my education, and they were only too happy to fund that aspect of my upbringing as well," Trump wrote in her 2009 memoir.
"All through childhood, there was one adventure after another to typical jet-setting-type hot spots, remote, undiscovered haunts, and everywhere in between."
Memo to the UnPrincess: You are no longer a child. The United States citizenry is not happy to fund your perpetual vacation travels. Settle down or hire your own guards.
(I cannot fathom, looking at her background, what she could even remotely contribute to these international meetings. Seems to me Trump's bringing her along for emotional support -- to reassure him that he's important enough to sit at the big people's table.)
