Eagles Reunion Concert

Speaking of music, a reconstituted Eagles performed this weekend in Los Angeles at the Dodgers Stadium. Joining remaining members Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmidt, were Deacon Frey (son of Glenn Frey, photo above) and Vince Gill. Also appearing as a special guest for a song was Bob Seger.

Forbes has a good recap of the concert but I'm not linking due to flashing ads and auto play video --Forbes is one of the worst offenders. [More....]

Frey and the Eagles were not just one of the most commercially successful rock acts of all time with over 150 million albums sold, they were the soundtrack of millions of lives, especially in Southern California, where they are a massive part of the community and culture.

I never lived in Southern California, but that goes for me too. If you are an Eagles fan, head over to You Tube now. Don Henley is the Uber-Chief of copyright police and the handful of videos from this week's concert attendees will probably be gone soon.

This current cast of the Eagles will be playing one more concert next week at Classic East in Flushing, Queens where Fleetwood Mac and others will also appear for the two day event. I just checked Ticketmaster and they have some good seats available.

I still miss Glenn Frey. I think his Miami Vice episodes were terrific. The best one is Smuggler's Blues (Season 1, Episode 15) and you can watch it for free on Hulu (with ads) or Xfinity on-Demand (also with ads.) Or buy the episode on Amazon for $1.99.

I've seen the Eagles a couple of times I, and would be tempted into this if they promised that 1/4 of the show would not be devoted to Joe Walsh solo material. Not what I came for! I was an early Eagles superfan, and never quite accepted him as even part of the real band :-)

I love the Laurel Canyon, hazy sunshine through the trees type of song and atmosphere. Lived in SoCal long enough to appreciate it.

I got gifted a couple ducats to Day 2 of the event, Journey/Earth Wind & Fire/Fleetwood Mac.  Day 1 Eagles/Steely Dan/Doobie Bros. woulda been better, but gratis is gratis.

Word to the wise, if you're not on the field level, ticket location shouldn't matter...security was pretty chill with people moving around at the Dead & Co. show at the new Shea Stadium.  They were only checking tickets to get on the field level.  So buy cheap and move down.

Though maybe that was just because, ya know, Deadheads.  This crowd/security could be stuffier.

    Fleetwood Mac's appearance at Classic West ... (none / 0) (#3)

... this past Sunday night in Dodger Stadium left an awful lot to be desired per my brother and my sister-in-law, who both attended. They felt that members of the group were collectively unengaged with their audience, that they simply took the stage and phoned it in. The functionary performance disappointed them to no end, because they've always been huge Fleetwood Mac fans. I hope that Fleetwood, McVie, Nicks and Buckingham are more enthusiastic for you as they head back east.
