Kavanaugh Sworn In: Trump Bloviates, SNL Laughs

Not as funny as last week's cold open on Kavanaugh with Matt Damon, but still quite good.

In real life last night, Donald Trump answered questions from a Fox News Host after his rally in Kansas. The depth of his fake news statements made my head spin. He can't really believe this stuff. I guess he knows his core, under-informed fanboy base can't be bothered to watch real news, which makes them over-susceptible to his nonsense.

We are three weeks to November. Please do your part to get out the vote. If you don't, your children and grandchildren may never forgive you.

states that Chief Justice Roberts received mthat Chief Justice Roberts can be expected to defend the institutional integrity of the Supreme Court. Or, even, that he might become the new swing vote. More of what he did for ACA.

It can only be hoped to be the case, but the WaPo, in its reporting, ore than a dozen judicial misconduct complaints against Kavanaugh, passed on from a judge on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.

Most of the complaints centered on Kavanaugh's answers about his work during the George W. Bush Administration, accusations regarding a lack of judicial temperament, and his demeanor in responding to Democratic senators during the confirmation hearing. The complaints were screened by a judge sitting on the panel.

Apparently, Roberts did not act on these complaints, and now that Kavanaugh is seated on the SC, the complaints may be dismissed (since no longer bound by Circuit Court rules).

Roberts, an appointee of Bush, has hired Kavanaugh clerks to work for him at the SC. And, Bush, in his book, credits Kavanaugh for helping him chose Roberts for the high court when Kavanaugh was a WH lawyer.

Chief Justice Roberts gave the constitution oath to Kavanaugh yesterday, shortly after confirmation, and former Associate Justice Kennedy, give him the judicial oath.

The oaths were administered right away so that Kavanaugh could begin to participate in the work of the Court right away.  Apparently, Sunday is too late, and Monday, would not work, even though a federal holiday. Maybe, because of Kavanaugh's desire to take advantage of Columbus Day mattress dales.

It would have felt a little better, in the interest of institutional integrity, for the oath to be given after a decent interval, say a day or two. But, maybe, just a part of the Republican victory lap, albeit a pyrrhic one for the country.

Need to start talking about healthcare and climate and stop talking about impeaching Kavanaugh.

There is so much corruption you can't throw a rock without hitting some.  Talk about that.

There will lots of time to talk about that.   After we win.

if the Democrats move on I don't think tRump is going to let go of this story
President Donald Trump took time out during his speech to police chiefs on Monday for a victory lap on adding Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, praising Kavanaugh as "flawless," and describing those who challenged the nomination as "evil."
Not wrong, misguided or unduly partisan, mind you, but evil.

FK it,those are words that Hitler would have used and everybody knows it. The Republicans enable it and the press normalizes it, we are doomed.

a normal political world yes, who knows here and now. President pu$$y grabber as never paid for mouthing off before, he waved off his accusers as lying harpies  with great success. Hopefully it won't work this time, but I wouldn't bet against it.

Over 60% of eligible voters didn't cast ballots in the last midterm election in 2014.  How do you get all those anti-Trumpers among the 60% to go to the polls on Nov. 6?

Did you read about Greg Palast's investigations on Brian Kemp's voter purge? Need to get all Georgia voters to check their registration before the end of tomorrow, which is the last day to register for the mid-terms.  D@mn Republicans just don't stop with the slime.

we've known about this for a while. It came up during the runoffs because people who had voted in the primary could not vote in the runoff. There have been reminders being texted out and tweets and all kinds of things going out to people to be sure to check their voter registration. I hope they all do.
