smart which we all know he isn't he would have just signed the bill that Nancy passed first off. What a CF. McConnell is part of the problem too. Instead of "protecting" his senators for 2020 he just made life a whole lot worse for them. Paul Ryan if he was in on this screwed the GOP over on his way out too. Talk about people walking out and throwing a bomb behind them while they are.

big loser.  He will find that his Roy Cohn tutelage has its limits.  His operational mainstay of intimidation and bullying has been irredeemably blown accompanied by people being unafraid of him.  Damage to his reputation as being someone to fear may be optically fatal.  Of course, he will try to come back swinging, particularly to show-up Speaker Pelosi, maybe by announcing his emergency wall-building, farmer/rancher land confiscating powers at the SOTU.  And, with Speaker Pelosi right behind him, it would be better than a tweet response to lock-up Hillary.  No longer a bully, just a mess.

    Yeah! Let's do it again!

Government shutdown costs the economy $11 billion, significantly dings Q1 GDP growth, CBO estimates

As a side note I am totally sick of hearing Trump supporters whine about how "unfair" it is they are being "hurt" by Trump.
    Seriously? You freaking morons?
You know what WOULD be fair?

    Speaking of the Mexican border

Just saw this.  It's running on STARZ.  It's the movie that made Cheeto think Islamic prayer rugs were being found at the border and women were being hauled across in duct tape.

Really.  He tweeted these things are happening and as far as anyone can tell, including an investigation by border agents, this movie is the source.

It's pretty good.  Great cast. I can almost see why he thought he was seeing a documentary.

another shutdown only if the GOP decides that they want to blow up the GOP and start as another party with another name. Apparently Republicans are slow learners. For the last 25 years this has been a tactic and every time they've done it, it pretty much has blown up in their face.

is a good strategy to proclaim that Trump has "caved".  While this is the language of the media, primarily, it is not good for Democrats to pick up on it or to gloat.  Of course, it is true that Trump recognized that having a prolonged shut down and owning is not winning.  Nor, is the "let them eat cake" insouciance of Cabinet and family members.

The "cave" represents the workings of democratic government and a strong, united and effective opposition and leaders.  That should be the message and the lesson.

Of course, Trump should not be let off the hook for the damage he has done to individuals and the economy, but I don't see the need to throw salt in wounds all can already see; Republicans will, no doubt, be looking for opportunities to "get back", but there strong suits are lies, hate and divisiveness.  The country is on to them, at last. Or, at least, the indictments are shedding some light on their heroes.

    I agree

In a rambling Rose Garden statement, Trump still held out the threat of another shutdown when this bill runs out on Feb. 15. He also suggested he could invoke emergency powers to build his wall if the conference committee doesn't come up with the funding. Neither is very likely. Support for Trump's position has collapsed among Hill Republicans after Thursday's votes demonstrated his weak position, and as the air traffic control system started more visibly eroding Friday morning. Given that, it's hard to believe that Senate Republicans would shut down the government again, only to find themselves in exactly the same situation.

    Fu@k him

I think Trump trying to declare a national emergency is almost a certainty.  He will learn quickly if he tries another shutdown he will be humiliated again.  This time by republicans.

It's all he's got.  And he is raging.  He has to show Lou Dobbs and Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity and his other masters he is in charge

I don't think it will get far in the courts but I don't think he really cares that much about that.  None of this has ever been about an actual but about his valiant fight for a wall.
